Unless you think you can do it an anti-static environment and put the screws back in so they don't cut new threads. None of it was unnecessary. I did it on consoles that had issues to show what had been done for full transparency, so people would know exactly what they were bidding on and wouldn't try to claim I swindled them. The two 2600s that I sold had shielding that was pretty badly rusted. I had taken them apart to clean and took pictures of them after doing so. The XBox I put up for auction had the old, bad clock capacitor. I took picture of where I removed it to show that it hadn't done any damage to the board. The Sega Master System had the voltage regulator replaced as it came to me inoperable. I took pictures showing that. I don't just willy nilly take apart consoles just to have a looksee.
