+Nezgar
Looks like a drive for a PC, not Atari. Unless you're looking for a mech to use with a PC to image Atari disks with Kryoflux or the like? The PC type mech in an XF-551 drive was a Chinon or Mitsumi, maybe it would work there... BillC
I believe that's a 1.2MB high density drive, there are only a few Atari 8-bit devices that can use these. 1. Black Box Floppy Board 2. ATR8000 3. Karin Maxi Drive?(maximum may be only 720kB) 4. XF551?(with HyperXF firmware, maximum only 720kB) Edited September 2, 2018 by BillC
1050
http://theref.mfarris.com/misc_files/ftp.html All that remains of a vast sea of confusion when it was current. It is no longer current and should be taken with a very large grain of salt. I agree with BillC, it's a 1.2 meg drive. Not suitable for XF-551. At best it might be able to read a 360K disk but will write to it with half width heads. Rumors do exist that these are usable with some systems, but I would not go there unless I was prepared for frustration and utter failure, not having any other choice as well.
