Heaven/TQA
I am just looking into some Silly Venture release (no promisses! ;=)) One of the machines there is a modified Atari 130XE (1MB Ultimate, 2x POKEY - stereo, VBXE 2.1 core 1.24) The computers will be connected to the following “media”: - SIO2SD connected to SIO port with an SD card acting as a medium - SIDE2 with the following mediums used: a) CompactFlash card formatted under Sparta DOS X, b) CompactFlash card formatted under FAT32 with entries run through SIDE loader - SIO2USB connected to SIO port and a PC computer running the latest version of AspeQT - for the close emulation of FDD and tape recorder - IDE Plus 2.0 rev. C IDE/KMK-JŻ connected to PBI/ECI ports and a CompactFlash card formatted under Sparta DOS X - acting as a backup in case any of the previous solutions fail now avoiding slow loading times... what if I want to use a) fast loader b) "HDD" like loading what do I need to take care of in terms of DOS/XBIOS and RAM not to trash? and regarding that 130XE... means it has 1MB banked memory plus the 512kb of the VBXE? I am considering "mutiplart" so not only loading 1 part...

flashjazzcat
Proceed as normal but avoid loaders which use their own SIO handlers.
Heaven/TQA
Xbios ok? So I have a folder which can contain the assets? And the ultimate device it is 1mb ram additional to the VBXE? Thats how I would expect it?
flashjazzcat
Correct re: RAM but VBXE memory is accessed using different registers, of course.XBIOS specifically proved highly problematic with PBI devices (re: Stunt Car Racer), and since U1MB and IDE Plus both provide 126Kb/s SIO handlers, use of standard SIO calls is encouraged. Re: folders - depends on the file system used. You may insist on SDFS, for instance, but for maximum flexibility I guess it's better to assume a flat file system. Heaven/TQA
Need to setup Altirra properly. I hope I can rely on it regarding all those special hardware
flashjazzcat
Absolutely. Emulation of U1MB, VBXE, SIDE and IDE Plus is extremely accurate.

flashjazzcat
another dose of disinformation :-) My apologies. I must have imagined the amount of hassle which surrounded it at the time. All's good, then.
Kyle22
How about using a SDFS formatted disk and type BOOT GAME.COM?
