How do i program in machine code on the zx81

now, i read all of Mastering machine code and am still confused. New rom, old rom, none of it makes sense

 

i have 2 questions:

 

1. How exactly do i enter z80 machine code, do i use the rem command to enter it?

2. how would i execute it? Usr, randomize?

 

can somebody please give an example because i'm truly confused

 

and Zeus or another IDE is out of the question (My hard drive is 27.8 gb, Eightyone took up all but 3 GB and it's filling up fast

Do you want to know how people used to do it 35++ years ago, or do you want to know how people do it in the 21th century?
