Has anyone else ever heard on this?

I just stumbled across one the other day on fleabay.

It's a smaller, compact cassette player/recorder designed for the CC-40+.  Same color and very similar size as the rest of the 40 peripherals.  It's about 2/3 the size of the old PHP-2700.  Much skinnier.

Sadly mine doesn't work.  Motor tries to engage but doesn't turn.  I'm going to start troubleshooting and hopefully restore it.

Actually, it's not that yellow.  My camera just decided it didn't need to use the flash.  It's pretty clean and near the same color as all the other 40 peripherals.

I've seen three or four of these over the years. There was even one for sale as part of an eBay lot a couple of weeks ago, but the seller removed it from the lot sometime between then and now.

Yeah, I persuaded him to split the cassette player off from that auction ans I honestly wasn't interested in the rest of the lot.  And I thought he was a bit steep on the pricing.

Wasn't until I had already paid that he mentioned the player wasn't in full working condition! :(

I've actually got a couple of these stored somewhere in my semi trailer.

Nice to know.  Might be able to snag one of those and combine the 2 to get one functional unit!

Well, wouldn't you know ebay has zero of those right now!

Plenty of 5158/B's but not 5160's.

Oh well, I'll keep an eye open.

Unless someone here wants to make me a deal...

BTW, I'm in Amarillo, TX.  So keep that in mind.

Yeah, those GE ones don't pop up too often either.

We might be able to get a service manual from this guy - arcadeshopper got the one for the TI Program recorder a while back based on it's OEM.    Note, he's very particular in how you email him if you choose that route.  Here's the page the 5160 is on.

Danged!  He is rather fastidious with his contact procedures isn't he!

Oh well, it's his site and he has the toys.

Stand by to stand by.

Question.

My eye keeps being drawn to the Radio Shack CCR-82.  Looks very similar to the cpr-001.

Another clone of the GE?

There are several of those on ebay.
