doctor_shred
Here's something annoying. I bought a brand new Iron Soldier 2 cart from Telegames UK (silver label limited edition) a few months ago. Having played it for several hours I've noticed the save game feature doesn't work. It saves the level you're on whilst the console is powered up but as soon as I switch off and reboot the game all the save data is gone!?!? I've tried doing the cartridge memory erase in case that was the problem. No better. Is this a quirk of the cartridge port of have I got a duff one? Gummy Bear
Have you cleaned the cartridge edge connector? You'd be surprised how often that fixes issues like this.
JagChris
I had that problem with Syndicate and Cannon Fodder. Cartridge port clean did the trick. Hopefully it will be that simple a fix for you.
doctor_shred
Thanks for the replies. You're absolutely right. A quick rub with IPA and it's working fine. The connector looked spotless and no dirt seem to come off but I can now save my progress! I played this game to death on the JagCD years ago and am getting into it all over again. Great game! Gummy Bear
I habitually clean all carts as I get them. Even if they have never been out of their boxes, a layer of oxidation can build up on the contacts.
DoTheMath
I've had the same problem with Towers 2 (also Telegames). They sent a replacement cart but same issue. Finally chose another product. Maybe their components having troubles.

DoTheMath
Or unclean contacts. In my case i tried both alcohol and special products and both carts on two different consoles so i doubt it...
+Stephen Moss
I have a dim memory of having to complete three missions before it saved (or maybe that was IS not IS2). If that is correct I am not sure what the thinking behind it was, I can only speculate that was necessary to created enough data to fulfill some write requirement without having to implement any data padding. Video
I believe, like is one you had to complete a certain number of levels before it would save. I'd play all the levels on one side of the level select, and then save. I never had problems, but seem to remember you couldn't save just one level at a time. JagChris
They were broke up in 4 groups of four. I believe it only saved after each four.
