A quick summary of recently discussed US Doubler ROM's:

• CRC32 4C53A1A8 - DavidMil's mystery EPROM ICD.BIN and UsDoubler_ok.bin on pigwa - For tandon mechs - Faster Stepping (5ms instead of 10ms head steps), backwards write precompensation (Enabled on Tracks 0-19 instead of 20-39) can corrupt your data, lacks some timeout and retry code, and uses a less efficient skew for regular SD format. (Whomever cobbled this together, what were they thinking???) Not recommended for use. - http://atariage.com/forums/topic/275166-one-last-eprom/?p=4060794
• CRC32 605B7153 - Matches "Doubler_err.epr" and "Usdblr_err.rom" found on pigwa, my B&C EPROM, and kheller2's original EPROM ©85 "Rev. L". Awaiting final authentication from a mask ROM dump as per this thread that it is the same as this.
• CRC32 0C42C87B - Rev L US Doubler modified by slaker using corrected stepper motor phase encodings and shorter seek delays as found in the stock 1050 "WST R 5" ROM for WST mechs only - Awesome!!! - http://atariage.com/forums/topic/156462-1050-roms/?p=4061547

Future:

• I would love to see a patched USD ROM based on the CRC32 605B7153 "Rev. L" for Tandon drives that has only the improved 5ms stepping, but without the other bugs.
• Find an earlier original US Doubler ROM that might only support the WDC 2793 FDC, i.e. ©84 printed on the Mask ROM

We need clearly labelled ROMs for USD that are as fast as possible for the drive mech's. All I want to see are clearly labelled USD ROMS for Tandon and WST mechs.

Do you have any USD ROM images that don't match the 3 CRC's above?

I am sorry, but I do not. That's why I was looking to find clearly defined ROMS for the various controllers and mechanisms. I would like to see them archived in a place so everyone can find the one they need.

I found this ICD RAM and ROM inside of one of my 1050s (WTS) made in Hong Kong.

I was wondering if there is some interest in dumping the ROM using the Brown Cartridge method.

@Nezgar. I used an old Pacman cart and I got the US Doubler firmware from the masked ROM. (I deleted the first 6 bytes after the extraction)

It is the same CRC32 than the one mentioned in your quote.

I am uploading it together with a text file with the mark in the chip, just in case it is needed.

As can be seen in my previous post, this was found in Hong Kong version 1050, with 2793 controller. Not sure how good it works, but it made my computer boot with DOS 2.5.

I still need to try SDX with skew and DD, to see if it really works well with this WS 1050.
