CX40Hero
Do you think Combat will ever become rare? Now hold on a minute, I know you think I'm an idiot but give me a second. How many Combat carts were made 40 years ago and how many still exist today? For 40 years this humble pack in cart has been: Broke an binned. Turned into coffee tables. Turned into lamp bases. Turned into external storage caddies. Used as parts carts by Homebrewers. Used as parts carts for Reproductions. Needless to say, theirs a lot less Combat carts now then there was 40 years ago….How many are still around and should we start taking better care of them? Should carts be 3D printed instead of ripping apart a Combat? Who I am I to say...I own over a dozen…. But think back to 10 years ago when you couldn't give away a Duckhunt NES cart, those carts are now retailing for $15.00 or there about's….. Food for thought guys, nothing more CX40
Rom Hunter
Eventually everything will became rare.
Hannacek
Combat will be rare when unmodded original 2600's become rare. For every modded 2600, or mom who threw one out, or person who turned it into a lamp, there are millions of 2600 consoles that are original unmodified.

atarilovesyou
Even if it becomes rare it will still be cheap. Main reason common NES carts are pricey is there's money in swapping shells in great condition..same goes for snes. Long gone the days of the 2 buck common if it's clean.
+thanatos
Eventually there will be only one cart left that hasn't succumbed to bit-rot.

+Atari_Warlord
In the year 3186 p.a. (post apocalypse) the official religion will be Atarism. On high holy days the priests will bring out the prehistoric idol of their god, Combat. Women faint as the squarish relic is paraded past them on the way to the high alter. All fall down and worship at the base of the altar which is covered in a decorative wood grain. Although forbidden, there are blasphemers who don't believe in Combat and prefer the one true god, Tank Plus.
CapitanClassic
With the half-life of plastic believed to be between 400-800 years, Combat should become rare by about 2770. Unfortunately, it wont be scarce, because the demand for physical copies of old video game systems will be nearly nil.

spacecadet
After the impeding apocalypse......maybe....... Is it weird that whenever I watch something like The Walking Dead, all I can think is "man, the first thing I'd be doing after the zombie apocalypse would be raiding the homes of all the biggest known video game collectors out there"? I mean, there are still gas-powered generators...

CX40Hero
I guess my real question is how many Combat carts were produced and of those, how many have been used as doner carts for Homebrew games & Reproductions...

buick
Combat will eventually be rare, but it's going to be a very long time until that happens. Even nowadays they're still only worth a buck or two at the very most.
