+Random Terrain
Atarimania.com has this Parker Brothers ad, but they don't know what magazine it came from. Do you know what magazine or magazines this ad was in: I'd like to know the magazine or magazines and the month/year. I've been re-looking through magazines at archive.org, but I haven't seen it yet. Thanks.
Supergun
It might not have been a magazine at all. One of my best friends while growing up back in the day was a big comic book collector. And he would always show me the video game ads inside them because he knew I was a big Atari fan. So check out comic books too.
atarilovesyou
Comics were the best source of new game adverts back in those days, but can't remember double page spreads in them. Never saw this one before though...cool.
Mulletino
I also remember seeing the Parker Bros ads in my comics, I only ever bought "The Amazing Spider-man" or "The Micronauts" in the 70s/early 80s but the print looks a bit too good to be one of those, they were on different paper which made them look less "photo" ish. (being in the UK at the time it was so unfair seeing ads for cool things we didn't get, like some of the Star Wars toys or the Starpath Supercharger, oh and Sea Monkeys) Edited September 24, 2018 by Mulletino
+Nathan Strum
Atarimania.com has this Parker Brothers ad, but they don't know what magazine it came from. Doesn't look familiar, but the copyright date on the ad is 1982. That fits with the release date for the still misnamed "Revenge of the Jedi" shown as due the following June ('83), after the movie would be released.
StanJr
I am not aware of any comic books from that period that had that specific double page ad. I will go back and check everything I have from 82.
+Random Terrain
It could also have been in something like TV Guide. As far as I know, I pulled every video game ad out of TV Guide back then and I don't remember ripping that one out. After I move during the second week of October, I'll find my box of ads and double check.
+Random Terrain
The image below was in the January/February 1983 issue of the "Book & Video Update" newsletter (vol. 1, no. 4). So although it has 1982 at the bottom of the ad in the first post, the ad could have been in a magazine or comic book or whatever in January or February of 1983. We shouldn't limit ourselves to 1982.

+Random Terrain
http://www.brettweisswords.com/2016/02/tv-guide-video-games-shoppers-guide-to.html Thanks! I guess I do have it in a box somewhere then. I know I have that issue or at least the article/ads from that issue.
+Cafeman
I remember that issue! I kept it around for a while back then, but of course forgot it until this thread popped up. The only mags I read around 1983 were TV guide, Joystik, Electronic Fun. So I figured it had to be one of those. Sadly for me, I pitched all my mags from that era, long ago. I have decluttered my possessions several times, call it a symptom of running out of storage space over and over. But, it would be cool to be able to dig them out and read them at this age, in this year. I'm grateful that there exist digital scans of most of those mags and ads.
Rom Hunter
December 1982 makes perfect sense: Look for these new programs, coming soon (with the first two shown for a Jan 1983 release). StanJr
Just for the record, ads for Atari games do not appear in Marvel comics until midway through '82. The first one I found was this back cover Parker Bros. ESB ad from Marvel Comics with a publication date of Oct 1982, which means it was likely out mid-late summer. After that Atari and Invellivision ads start to become increasingly proliferate in Marvel Comics throughout 83-84. Including this really cool Jedi Arena ad. And just for fun, who doesn't love this Starcade double-page spread! Gilligan's Planet for the WIN!
