johndias
Bought a unit off eBay and had to make my own composite cable. When I hooked it up the graphics are kind of nasty and do not fit on the screen. Is this bad video memory or something else?
+OLD CS1
That shot does not look like bad RAM to me. It looks more like a composite sync issue. Is there an auto-adjust on that monitor?
warpman
If the LCD is a TV, using the LCD menu's, it may be possible to select a different screen size or resolution. Stepping through the video modes on the LCD menu could help. Just a thought. Have a great day.

LASooner
Look for 'wide', 'zoom' or 'format' setting on the TV or remote. In the settings for the monitor or TV you want to look for settings related to overscan. congrats on getting what looks like a functional TI.
johndias
Hah! Thanks everyone that did the trick! The screen still looks a bit wonky, though. For some reason my phone camera makes it look better than it appears but the letters are not very crisp. I may try another screen, this is an old junker I keep to test stuff with. RickyDean
The old composite signal will never look 'crisp' on a newer monitor, the old style CRT's sort of blended the image making it look somewhat better. If you want a crisp signal, you would need to consider a F18 upgrade to the TI99/4a that gives vga output.
JB
Even on an old CRT, the 4a just has a nasty video output. Which is to say, that image quality looks normal. Though the TV's stretching and aggressive overscan cropping are issues, they aren't the TI's fault.
johndias
Thanks again - that makes sense. Seems like my timing for working on this project sucks due to the delays the F18 MK2 is having but I'll for sure be interested when/if they can overcome the legal issues.
