BillC
Most of the sites that have this manual have a version that's only 40 pages, missing a lot of information. I found a version which has 51 pages that appears complete, including more legible schematics. http://www.jsobola.atari8.info/dereatari/literatdere/1050fsm.pdf Edited October 2, 2018 by BillC

BillC
That's because that is a modern modified version of the original Atari manual. Allan The index of the 40 page 1050 Field Service Manual on atarimania shows 15 pages(1-11 to 1-21, 2-1 to 2-3 and 3-1), which are missing. Some further search found another pdf on Atarimania, "Service Manual for the Atari 1050 Disk Drive", which includes the missing 15 pages. It consists of poorly aligned page scans, and the schematics which were too large to fit on a single page are on 2 pages with overlap. It appears to me that the modifications to the version I linked are OCRed text, removed blank areas on pages, and the size of some of the illustrations modified to fit the changes, but that the basic content doesn't appear to have changed. This version could be useful to many people needing information from the missing 15 pages, which is why I started this thread.
+kheller2
That's the 70 page book I use. I do have a horribly Xeroxed (yeah, Xeroxed!) copy from the 80's that is a bit straighter, and a copy from another source that has some of the technical update bulletins. The 70 page one is the only mostly complete version I've found.
+Nezgar
Wow someone spent a lot of time re-creating that document. Very clean, cleaned up image scans, re-created screen shots. Did the real FSM have the comments about the WDC 2793 vs 2797 FDC? (Ie needing the pin bend up) wonder if there were details added by the person who re-created it? doesn't cover the WST mech drives though. I'd like to see the tech bullitens. The titles of a number of them I think were named in the A8 FAQ I believe, some gaps there.
+Allan
It consists of poorly aligned page scans, and the schematics which were too large to fit on a single page are on 2 pages with overlap. The original document was all mis-aligned. Allan
+hunmanik
Here are the pages that are missing from AtariMania's incomplete pdf of the official 1050 FSM, FD100330 Rev. 03, October 1985. 2nd attachment is the cover (in color), plus the inside front cover (also missing). 1050 FSM rev3 missing pages.pdf 1050 fsm r3 cover.pdf
+kheller2
I just uploaded a complete version of the FSM. I scanned this from my own copy, and then added some better schematics I found on the web, but also included the original blurry as heck ones. This one has better waveforms compared to some of the other scans out there. From archive.org: PDF download I hope this helps someone. If anyone finds something missing please let me know. 7
+kheller2
Does anyone know if there was ever a WST addendum to this FSM?
+Stephen
Well, I have two copies of the 1050 FSM and neither has any info on the WST mech.
