TeddyBear89
As a guy who never wishes to play with another human again.........what is your suggestion for the perfect CPU / Me setting? I just played a half with me at 2 and the CPU at 5.....I was up 34-12, 505 yards passing and 44 yards rushing. I write these types of things down and my best (most evenly competed) game was when I was a 1 and the CPU was a 5. I am very competent (I think) with the finer points of the game. But when you ramp up the settings to 8 or 9 the CPU is basically unstoppable on offense. Just curious......how do you pros play this sweet game? And OMG.....won't somebody fix THIS game too to allow for shorter quarters?!?!?!? :-)
atarifan88
If you have an Intellivision emulator on your computer I suggest you ditch Super Pro Football and download Super NFL Football. This game has it all with fumbles, various skill levels, custom quarter lengths, all on a 3D field! It's a little buggy, but very fun to play! You can find all the info you need here: http://www.intellivision.us/intvgames/supernfl/supernfl.php If it turns out that this is not your thing, someone made a hack of all the sports games with shortened quarters. Here is the thread to that. Enjoy! http://atariage.com/forums/topic/276684-intellivision-sportgames-all-of-the-action-in-half-of-the-time/
TeddyBear89
I appreciate the comment. I actually sold the cart for Super NFL Football on Ebay not too long ago after owning it for a few years. It is a fine game but as you mentioned it is buggy and the CPU isn't too great of an opponent. I actually think Super Pro is the better game but wish it had the fumbles, two-point conversions and above all.....custom quarter lengths like Super NFL. Still an old school gamer here (cartridges only) but some day I may need to look into emulation. Especially since it takes nearly two hours to complete a Super Pro Football game!
+fdr4prez
If you are a cart-only kinda guy, then you can purchase the LTO Flash! - which is a cartridge that allows you to add your own ROMs to it and play on the original consoles. So you can have the best of both worlds. http://ltoflash.leftturnonly.info/
mr_me
I haven't spent much time with Super NFL but to me the animation looks a little choppy. It does have the pre-programmed playbook. When we were kids, we'd just play one half, one quarter, one period, whatever we had time for. The clock was never an issue.
