My first video gaming experience was playing Centipede with my father, he moved the track ball and I pushed the fire button.

I did something similar for my niece when she was little. She was enamored of Frogger because she liked the music and the bright colors, so I let her "play" it in MAME: she pressed CTRL on the keyboard to jump, while I was using a gamepad on the side to steer the frog.

my daughter cut her teeth on World of Warcraft and Borderlands, lol. she would sit in my lap and hit my map and make me jump in WoW.

 

I think she almost learned the word 'map' quicker than 'mom'. ;-)
