TIX Posted October 21, 2018 Share Posted October 21, 2018 (edited) I am looking into it, just the objectives for now: fix the bartender a little (especially his elastic hand and leg) somehow stop the patrons blending with each other and make them pop out a little (I'm thinking replace one of their colors with black and redraw them) fix the dancers (come on they are ugly ) Of course I will need help locating the graphics in the rom and with colors.. TIX Posted October 21, 2018 Author Share Posted October 21, 2018 (edited) First problem what is the best version to hack ? the US-Gold version seems to only have the first two bars and they repeat indefinitely, also the music in the bonus game is missing.. the SEGA version seems more complete, but I think I remember from back in the day that there were some jingles (when you win a bar and others) that are missing.. +therealbountybob Posted October 22, 2018 Share Posted October 22, 2018 Always good do see improvements being made to these classic games What Tapper could do with is some variety on the logic - it's a real fun game for a while but once you've played a few times it's then too easy to blast through the first 7 rounds or so right at the start of each one - then it seems to have a real sticking point at level 10 (?) which is nearly impossible - I think one player did manage this in the HSC before HSC9 R7 Beer Time but it spoils the enjoyment. On 1st (inside bar) black seems to be PF3 and also seems to be on the balloon outside. Is it also on the bartender screen? Why? Because it seems that our guy is only using the 4Players so maybe Missiles are free and these could be used (if in all screens black is PF3) to have the side borders in black puting one in ecah of the sides at full high to cover that BAK register colour (and what bad looking it's on the ballon screen because of that sky/ground DLI that cuts the sides beer machine and stairs): P.s.- If isn't black PF3 in the bartender it even looks good as a continuation of the wall like is now so on this one it could not be used the 2Missileson the sides as 5th Player. _The Doctor__ Posted October 23, 2018 Share Posted October 23, 2018 (edited) he is saying using the missiles to add color in black spaces etc is possible. you have be judicious and not cross certain dividing lines so the color doesn't affect other sections(areas) on the screens. He was letting you know how the screen was split up so you could avoid color going place you don't want it to go... This does not address changing the sprites definition itself but would be a cheap and easier way to add more colors if you wanted to do so... Unrelated but I noticed a graphics glitch in the program from these screen shots and played the game in altirra to confirm it. If you look at the third screen shot the top of the hair of the top-most woman is dark green instead of yellow. It looks like the color was green in the blimp above and should have been changed to yellow via a dli one line earlier. That would probably be a quick fix for anyone who does this sort of stuff. But that is just beer for the masses. There are plenty of good American beers if you buy better quality American beer. Samuel Adams brand for example. It's just like anything in America, you get what you pay for...the "standard" American chocolates like your standard Hershey bar are sub-par chocolate compared to chocolate from other countries too, but we also have premium chocolate brands that can match any German chocolate for taste, texture and quality, if you buy the quality stuff. I've been going to them since the early 90's.
