TIPI and MDOS Development

Got a question for those considering doing any development of the TIPI for MDOS on the Geneve 9640. Right now, TIPI only works on GenMOD systems so I am told. Hopefully, that will change in the future.

If someone has any plans on writing any code for TIPI/MDOS on a Geneve, let me ask a question or two.

There are at least two MDOS programs (PORT and MyTerm) that could be modified to work with the TIPI. I am not sure there are any other programs at the moment.

Would it make sense for an XOP to be written that could be used to talk with the TIPI for socket I/O? Call the XOP to test for the presence of a TIPI, open/read/write/close on a port, along with both character and string send/receive capability?

I think this may be an easier solution to implement for unique programming styles as this would eliminate the actual program implementing the necessary paging to map in the DSR page, etc. Basically, it would be a "TIPI" driver, simliar to the Windows Driver I wrote years ago.

Thoughts anyone? I know there are two or three programmers out there. Trying to gauge any interest, or if this would be a "me thing" with no interest to anyone else.

I'm making the presumption the MDOS DSR does not have available memory for the routines and it would be simpler to implement and MDOS version independent with an XOP TIPI driver.

As the MyArt source is out there, this same driver can be used for the I/O communication to connect a USB mouse through the PI to the TIPI to MyArt

Anyways, thinking out loud to see if anyone had any thoughts.
