Season 8 ~ Week 5 ~ Track N Field

For those that are struggling with the hammer throw, I'm a bit surprised as its by far the easiest event IMO

 

Try this:

 

-Move the joystick once to start the event - don't worry about the joystick again after this point - he speeds up on his own with each rotation

-He does 9 rotations, getting faster each time.

-Press the button on the 9th rotation when he turns orange and makes the sound.

-Any earlier than the 9th rotation and the throw will be under powered

-Any later than the 9th rotation and he will foul

-Sweet spot for the angle seems to be 40-45 degrees I think

 

You should be guaranteed a 90m minimum throw now, a rested arm, and a new favourite event!

 

If anyone can pass 95m please let me know what I'm doing wrong from above

My score isn't the highest on here but i did crack 80,000+

Long Jump 10.24

Javelin 97.12

Hammer 92.00

I'm using a CX40 too, all i can say is take your time in between events so your arm doesn't get too tired.

On original Xbox via emulator.

Even after the tips I still struggled with the hammer throw until I shut my eyes and just listened for the sounds. Found my timing on the button was better that way.

Bit off topic, but I dug out track and field for my old Sinclair zx spectrum, which was made in 1988 compared to 1983 for the Atari 2600, and the Atari 2600 version wipes the floor with the spectrum version. It really is a great achievement how well they made this game for the Atari

Bonus: Space Invaders 1,185 (Game 16 A/). Quite the week, carpal tunnel from Track n Field and millions of resets to score a little more than 1k on Space Invaders.
