My Jaguar and more

I am new here so I just wanted to share a little information about me and my Jaguar. I had been wanting a Jaguar, well... Since I was a kid (little did I know then) and was always on the lookout for one. I actually bought a boxed game one day without even owning the console yet, as I knew one day I would obtain one. I wanted to get it boxed, which I did and it included 5 games all of which were CIB and in plastic hard covers and two controllers (sadly no pro controller). The box looks great on my shelf.

I was just enjoying some Doom on my Jaguar via the OSSC at 5x line mode on a 47 inch LCD, really digging it. Looks pretty crispy in the dark. I also like that there is no music so I can play to my own with ease.

I just need to obtain a pro controller now, which I know about the reproductions and those look pretty good and want to hear more about them as they are released into the wild.

So hi all and hope to see you around.

I have yet to try my Jaguar on an LCD, but I seem to see it all the time in pictures of people doing it, probably because it is too heavy to lug around a CRT. I'd be curious to know if it looks good or all pixilated when plugged into an LCD. I have an AV to HDMI adapter and put it on a 65 inch Plasma and it looks pretty nice but still fuzzy around the edges.

It all depends on HOW you are connecting it to your TV.

I usually play on my JVC DTV monitor, but when I play on the big TV (Samsung 65" 4K) I go through the OSSC and it looks real nice.

Sharp and clean.

If you're using a cheap Chinese upscaler, well... you get what you pay for :)

You said AV to HDMI. As in composite?

yeah AV as in composite to HDMI. Looks decent on a 65 plasma, just a little fuzzy aorund the edges. It is an Amazon upscaler but nothing fancy. I didn't know what OSSC was but I assume that's probably some sort of upscaler? I'm not good with the acronyms, it took me a while to figure out why people kept putting "iirc" and then I finally figured out what that meant after a while

If you want the best picture you need to be rocking an RGB SCART cable (I have the official Atari one) and a good upscaler.

The framemeister is pretty good, but introduces too much input lag for my tastes.

OSSC is the Open Source Scan Converter.

It's a line multiplier, so no resampling is required = no lag.

Fantastic piece of kit.

Yeah mine is surely cheapo compared to that OSSC thing. Mine was like $15, but it allowed me to enjoy the Jag on a big screen which was great, even if some fuzzy around the edges. I went though an entire 32 team season on NBA Jam TE on that TV and really enjoyed it. Also played a full season of Troy Aikman as well.
