+davidcalgary29
Does anyone have a list of recommended games that have been released since the console's commercial demise? I've done some casual browsing, but a lot of existing DC sites are pretty bad (and/or appear to be infected with malware), or simply confusing. Punisher5.0
I had a great time with Half Life. There is also the NGDEV games like Fast Striker and Gunlord that are very good.
+eebuckeye
There are a bunch.. I know Flashback is out and was licensed. I think Play Asia is a good place to check: https://www.play-asia.com/flashback/13/70bf21?post_type=product

Checked out that site. Thanks! I had a great time with Half Life The primary reason I bought my unit a deacde ago! Still haven't found a better game of its type -- even Half-life 2, as excellent as it is, never equals the first one in plotline coherence and general awesomeness. +eebuckeye
I'm not sure but I know there are other licensed games in addition to standard new homebrew games.

Recently someone released an updated DC Half Life with much better audio quality. Im going to be checking it hopefully tonight. Also, check out the Josh Prod releases
+eebuckeye
Josh Prod is who I was trying to think of.. I had no idea about a 'new' Half Life.
dj_convoy
Gun Lord is very good. I mostly gravitate towards shooters, so my new DC purchases are pretty much all Dux, Fast Striker, Pink Bullets, etc.

dj_convoy
Ooh, dunno. I have purchased all of these direct from the publishers as they came out. https://www.ngdevdirect.com/might still have some of this stuff.
+davidcalgary29
This guy has a number of titles for sale at attractive prices (the shipping costs, though...ugh), but I'd obviously prefer to purchase current releases in a form where their authors can receive some royalties for their work. xenomorpher
It's not new, but Seven Mansion just got an English translation, though it isn't final. I haven't checked it out yet personally, still cracking away at D2, but you can still play it and let the guy know if you spot any bugs. Someone also did an English translation of Code Veronica Complete that I'm going to be checking out. I found this on Assembler Games in the forums, which has a lot of homebrews, hacks, and just good information. There's also a TMNT arcade style beat 'em up too you can find on there. Flashback has a decent amount of extras, you can select console or PC cutscenes for instance, and it supports widescreen. I never got into it or similar games besides Oddworld, but the amount of care and extras they put in does pique my interest. Volgarr the Viking is available for free. I stink at these kinds of games, but it's still well done. Might be worth a download if you like hard games. Sturmwind is a shooter that is extremely polished and looks like a 360 era XBOX Live Arcade title. I'm not the biggest fan of shooters outside some truly unique ones like Ikaruga, Zero Gunner 2, and G-Darius, but this should be at the top of the list of games to look at. I'm not sure if you know Japanese, if you don't and have a smartphone, you can use the Google Translate app to translate text on the screen with the camera function. You do need to be connected to the internet though, but I've used it for stuff during a movie and works pretty good. This gives you the option of playing imports for many different systems as well. The text does need to be stationary and scrolling text will be problematic. An English translation of Segagaga is being worked on and there are guides out there, however I'll probably try playing using my phone to translate instead of waiting. I mentioned this in the other thread, but don't forget about playing online with DreamPi if you haven't tried it. It can add some life to games you've already played. September 9th of next year is the 20th anniversary of the Dreamcast in the US region, so I'm going to imagine there's going to be stuff planned for DreamPi that will drive up player numbers. I don't work that day, so I'll be mooching off of someone's internet and be playing my Dreamcast online all day.
