nd2003grad
As I wait for my shiny new/old FZ1 to come in the mail, I'm wondering...are there any "hidden gem" Japanese games? Obviously, for me they'd have to be low on text...but I'm definitely interested in any suggestions since it's an odd system to begin with! Austin
Flopon the Space Mutant - Puyo-Puyo-esque puzzle game. This is the prequel to Trip'd, which came out in North America.Short Warp - A mini game collection featuring games of various types. Some are simple puzzle games, some are not. All are pretty wacky.Flopon World - Another mini game collection but themed around the Flopon in WARP's puzzle games. It also features one of the only shooters on the system (single screen, Galaga style mixed with Gyruss).Rush 'n Fire Megadas - A first-person versus game that's pretty basic, but neat to look at. Has some other mini games on it too.Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Ultraman - A few different fighting games. Ultraman is an evolution on the old arcade, Mega Drive and Super Nintendo games.Battle Pinball - A split-screen versus pinball game. This is to pinball what Twinkle Star Sprites is to shoot 'em ups. Not the greatest physics but the game runs well and has a two player versus mode.Doctor Hauzer - Early trap and puzzle-based survival horror game. Gets a lot of praise but I find it difficult to play with the low framerate. You might like it though. Has Japanese text but it's pretty easy to figure out.Taiketsu Rooms - I haven't played this one, but supposedly it's a fun game. Top-down 2D visuals, Bomberman style in a way.I'm sure there are other English-friendly ones I am missing, but I'll leave it at that for now. Avoid Insector War. It looks neat in screen shots, but it runs terribly and isn't all that enjoyable to play (it's a first-person versus game). Likewise the Wacky Races games are hard to stomach, which is a shame because they probably would have been fun had they ran well.

Austin
Adding Pyramid Intruder. On-rails FMV shooter. Also, tossing Defcon 5 into the mix. While it's not Japanese exclusive, it did have an English release in Europe. No release in the USA on 3DO, so it's often an import I like to bring up.
