Konami Arcade Classics, PS1

I am playing Konami Arcade Classics for the PlayStation and am having a good time with it. However, as I am not really that good at arcade games (this from someone who loves arcade games) I am having trouble achieving a reported cheat for the collection (which I assume is accurate): beat the high score that is on all the games to allow the player to set all games at 99 lives. I have done this for eight games, but cannot do it so far for Super Cobra or Shao-lin's Road. I'm assuming, at this time at least, I will eventually figure out the latter, but Super Cobra is giving me the biggest challenge right now. I have to get over 10,000 on it.

I thought I would have an equally tough time with Scramble, but there is a way around getting to 10,000 which you simply can't do with Cobra. The option menu does allow the player to start with five players instead of three, and that makes all the difference, because Scramble sets you back a bit when you die, and because it is an easier game, you can just keep repeating the easier sections and rack up the points (Circus Charlie likewise is easy, because with five chances, you just keep repeating the first level, which is the easiest). Scramble was still tough, but I made it. Cobra, though, seems to not set you too far back (I could be wrong on that, but like I say, seems that way), and besides that issue, it is just simply more difficult.

I therefore ask if there are any tips on Cobra that might make it easier. I'm pretty sure though there aren't, but I just want to exhaust that possibility. I did, by the way, set the controller to be able to use the analog stick (I was previously using the directional pad -- I am playing the PS1 disc on PS3 -- which is really awkward for these games). I would really love to know if there are any more codes I can enter. Also, were Game Genies available for PS3? I never owned any Genies/Sharks so I don't really know about that whole aspect of gaming...

bumping.

But sorry. Can't help you. This is actually the first time I've ever heard of being able to unlock 99 lives on this disc. I never would have run across it accidentally because all I ever played on it were Gyruss and Time Pilot.

The only advice I can give on Super Cobra is that it's a memorization game (if I'm thinking of the correct game). Just keep memorizing and git gud. Yeah, I know that's no help, but that's all I got.

Funny that I come across this topic during the few times a year I remember to visit this site, as I was one of the first people to discover that secret and submitted it to a bunch of different video game code websites lol. Suffice to say, the 99 lives option is definitely real; I even erased my ps1 file over and over again just to verify how I unlocked it when I first noticed I could change my lives to 99 on everything. I dont remember having too much trouble with it, though Super Cobra is definitely the toughest of all of them. Just shoot and bomb as much stuff as you can and with a little bit of practice youll get it.
