Disk Wizard II - Manual?

Has the manual for this ever surfaced?

AtariMania: Disk Wizard II

No, but I've never really needed one. It was always fairly basic and simple to use. That being said, it would be nice to have one. I provided two images to AtariMaina for different versions of this program, but it's still listed as missing.

For what it's worth, there is a manual for Disk Wizard, and I can't imagine it's all that much different.

Thanks, but the point is actually to see the Disk Wizard II manual archived.

Here is a pdf of the Disk Wizard II manual I was able to locate on the pigwa.net Atari FTP Archive. It's pretty rough and I may try to OCR and recreate it, but this is the best I've been able to locate so far. I've already sent a copy to Allan over at AtariMania.

Thanks, that's pretty rough, as you say, but at least. As far as doing anything to improve what's there, I doubt it.

Once characters are rendered in an inconsistent manner like that, there's not much that can be done in the way

of general processing to brings things out.

As far as OCR goes, there would most likely be a tough time getting through that as well, since those thick

characters are going to be improperly deciphered all over the place.

It's at least something that can be read, by the human eye, though. So, it'll suffice well enough until someone

can scan a better copy. I appreciate you searching it up.

Something else I've noticed is that, the latest official release from the original publisher, C.A.P. Software, is rel. 2.5, dated 1984. However, I found a later version as part of the Pirate's Cracking Set. That version is rel. 7.5, dated 1988 and shows it's from D.U.P. Systeme.

Has anyone else ever noticed this version or know anything about it? Other than the details changed on the title screen, author, publisher, date, etc., I really can't see any difference or improvement to the program. I'm assuming it's just a later, French version, though all of the text still appears to be in English.

Interesting. First time I've seen it. Looks like they might have changed a few things on the menu/title screen

to make it look like theirs, and then sold it without authorization; else why would the release number go up

so much without any detectable changes? They also changed the authorship; does that mean it was

completely rewritten? I highly doubt it. Looks like the Pirate's Cracking Set was pirated itself.

It probably wasn't even sold at all, just cracked/hacked. No serial number on the menu/title screen, and the

title splash screen looks pretty unprofessional/amateurish (childish).

I've had this manual for Disk Wizard II on my hard drive for awhile. It's different than the one pointed to earlier. It's also rough-- but it's quite usable.

Yes, rough, as you say; but more legible print than the one pointed to on Pigwa.

Also, this one is newer, and from the same year (1984) as the most resent version of the program (v2.5).

Thanks...
