  1. 1. How do you think we should handle for sale, trade, or giveaway posts in the TI-99 forum?

This question was brought up to me a couple of times including recently, just not a priority for me. I kind of feel like a bureaucrat justifying his own existence :)

We tend to post a lot of for sale, wanted, trade, or giveaway threads in our main TI-99 sub-forum as a method of dealing with people we know and trust and keeping items within the community. Some people, myself included, have made posts in the AtariAge Marketplace forum for some items and here in the TI-99 sub for other items.

What do you think about the practice? Thoughts on the matter are appreciated.

Personally, I'd like to see a 'floating thread' (not pinned), like the "TI Related -- Ebay / Heads Up Notice" thread.

Whenever someone has something to share, it'll pop up to the top to catch our attention, then slowly disappear until someone else has something to post.

Good point. This could be counted under the "pinned thread" option as an unpinned thread could be referenced in the new users' F.A.Q. pinned thread.

i think the non-pinned thread idea is cool, too. every great once in a while i do have TI stuff i'm clearing out so i end up posting in the Marketplace and then cross-posting here for greater visibility anyway.

of course, whatever someone does with something is their business, but i always hope when i get stuff to someone else it's going to a nice home with a big yard where they can run and drink cold water.

If people will search for and use the non-pinned thread, that seems like a good approach.

How about a sub-forum for polls? ;)

Have the Polish not suffered enough??

Here is what I do not want to have to do with a non-pinned thread: I do not want to have to move new threads into the monolithic thread every time one pops up because someone did not know. The traffic of such threads is light enough and posted by people who would be expected to know better that it should not be too much of a bother.
