Pretty much all XEGS boards are soldered though, so you'll have to be handy desoldering ICs to replace the original. If you do so, I'd strongly suggest installing a socket during the process.

C101687 is the ROM which contains the OS, BASIC, and Missile Command in 1 32KB chip.

 

Apparently they are a common failure point. A 27c256 EPROM or 28c256 EEPROM are also drop-in replacements for the XEGS if you have the means to program one. Or, someone might be able to program and mail one for you, depending on mail cost compared to BEST where you are in the world.
