I think he means diagonal scrolling vs horizontal or vertical scroll. Not sure if there is any intybasic issue but I think the intellivision can scroll in 360d.

 

Diagonal scrolling is just scrolling in both axes simultaneously by different amounts. *shrug*

The IntyBASIC command SCROLL currently seems to support fine scroll (0-7 pixels) in both horizontal and vertical directions, but the rough scroll that moves content on the BACKTAB only supports one direction at a time: up, down, left or right, not a combination of those. I had a brief look into the ASM code and believe with a small bit of rewrite and using compile-time constants instead of fixed offsets, it could be made to rough scroll in the diagonals as well.
