One POKEY chip.

I'm suddenly in the 7800 world. I have no Pokey (and I want to buy Super Circus AtariAge).

Anyone want to sell me a Pokey?

I have an Atari 400 I'm not using, but it seems a shame just to butcher it for one chip. Anyway, hoping to hear from you if you can sell me one or want to trade.

Thanks!

Pretty sure the POKEY is socketed so you could take it out and just replace it in the future if you want to get your SCAA gaming on sooner rather than later.

Thanks again... Well, I just discovered that it's actually a 4-port Atari 800. It worked last I checked. I have a disk drive and a bunch of accessories too.

If anyone is interested in this thing, let me know.

Glad I can pull the chip in a hassle-free reversable operation. I really hope another run of these POKEYs gets made.

If mattsoft doesn't wind up having one, vintagegamecrazy has a Ballblazer 7800 cart + manual he said he'd part with for $15. Way better than removing the pokey from your 400.

Thank you. I might hit him up, simply because Ballblazer is a game I'm fairly interested in, and if he's got a manual too that's always a plus for me.

I know this is an old post, but hey... I have an update!

So I ended up making quite a deal out of the Ballblazer cart... And traded a much used NGage Prototype and several store demo games for a nice restored Intellivision 2 and several goodies. All in all, very happy.

Also Mattsoft sold me a POKEY direct. Very nice of him. Super Circus AtariAge is now enjoyed on occasion by my family. Yay.

Anyways, so I ended up opening the Atari 400 and pulling the POKEY chip... This time for a copy of Donkey Kong PK.

I sent an offer of my otherwise great condition Atari 400 to the guys that developed the PokeyONE (since the current version of the PokeyONE won't work as a 1for1 replacement on an Atari computer, and thought they could use it for dev), but so far haven't received any response.

Anyone who wants a very nice Atari 400 with no POKEY, please PM me with an offer. I was hoping for a PokeyONE so I could get another Homebrew game, but I'm willing to entertain anything.

FYI, the guys that did the POKEY One, have a full solution now. AFAIK, Curt is using them for the XM units.

I'm very happy to hear that.  I just had pangs of turning this otherwise nice machine into a brick. Now it's good to know there's a solution on the horizon to get it functional again. Thanks for the info.
