buckeye25osu
Hey all- Pretty new posting here but have lurked these forums for years. My retro gaming kick has amped up the last couple of weeks and I got to thinking how much I wanted to get an Atari 2600 to go along with the roughly 60 games I've snatched up over the last couple of years. I've bought games, but haven't had a system since I was a kid. Born in 1981, my first video game system ever was a used Atari Jr., which us kids played for some years before getting a Nintendo. A very long time ago my mom sold that Atari and the few games that were with it. So for both gaming and nostalgia reasons, I wanted to get an Atari 2600 Jr. model. Last night, probably after a few too many beverages I pulled the trigger on this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/283350447801 $134 shipped. I know it's a lot of common games. Being very much a novice to 2600 games and value, I spot checked a good many in the rarity guide and most are ranked 2 or 3, with maybe a couple 4s. Given they are all pretty much commons, do you think it was a decent deal? I know there are some dupes too. Based on "sold" prices, I'd say the console values around $50 with the controllers. I guess that means I paid about $1 per game. It's not clear, but I assume it includes the Flashback console and 2 of the 4 controllers are Flashback ones. What do you all think? R.Cade
Wow, that is a lot of dupes. That's like buying out the used bookstore... Is there actually more than about 20 unique games there? Friends don't let friends drink and eBay! EDIT: Wait, sorry. Stupid eBay showed another auction "like" yours. What you got is OK, just in rough shape. You overpaid some... a good bit maybe. Edited January 24, 2019 by R.Cade
buckeye25osu
Yeah, the labels do look to be in kinda rough shape. Some missing and a lot peeled. I still don't think I've seen games go for less than ~$1 each, so my opinion is it's an average deal. I probably should have just sought out a 2600 Jr only and gotten the Harmony cart which is what I plan to do eventually anyways!
