The TI blobbed cartridge boards

Without a special equipment, removing the blobs is the best way to destroy them. And I don't want to kill these uncommon cartridges, especially the Texas Instruments "Mind Challenger". I have two of them, bought in 2003.
I have never seen a shell for this kind of TI-99/4A cartridges. As they are prototypes, I wonder if TI ever made a such shell.

The blobbed versions of The Attack use a similar board--and those have only been found as loose boards as well. It looks like these boards were being designed as a cost-cutting measure, as that would seriously reduce the required size of each board. The question there is: does the move to blob cost more or less than the standard IC chip? If more, it would negate the savings introduced by the smaller board, if the same, it would reduce costs, and if less, it would reduce costs even more.

I find this topic very enlighening, as there hasn't been much said about these boards in the past.

The COB (blobbed) IC were less expensive to produce than the standard ones. The Texas Instruments department of Villeneuve Loubet, situated near Nice (a town in France) has developped and studied some TI-99 accessories (such as the PHM2037) and educationnal cartridges. They worked on COB version of cartridges. It is one of the reason why three former engineers of TI used COB technologies in all the cartridges of their own low cost computer EXL-100 (Exelvision company).

Faux: n'arriveras Juste: n’arriverais

Just a little aside. it's still not right :) The right sentence is "Le jour où je parlerai Anglais comme toi tu le fais en Français n'arrivera sans doute jamais."
