Hotdog thoughts?

Its been eight years or so since this was released, and yet this title rarely comes up in discussion. Where does this one end up in the Lynx library? I like the graphics, and some of the level designs like Ice 2 and Factory are quite nice. The level skip sure is a nice feature, and overall playability is fairly high. Still, though, I find it outclassed by Toki and Scrapyard Dog, and mainly because the Sonic elements feel sort of like a retread. Anyone still play this, or is it just a collectable?

It has the same kind of cartoonish character like Fat Bobby. The only problem is that this was a taster of the game. It would have taken 4 months of work to write all the planned levels if I understand the comments around the game correctly.

The movements and visual style of Hotdog is funny. The game has some character or should I say personality in it. But as it is only a demo you should not compare it to a full game.

Its a fun game to play, though the collision detection is a bit unforgiving imo.

ircc there's a bunch of items floating around in places that tease you to get them but I think its impossible. Definitely has more of a demo feeling going on overall.

I should try it again on my McWill modded Lynx though.

It's pretty big for a demo, although I agree that each of the "worlds" are pretty short. Does anyone know what the planned stages were on this one? Perhaps "Palm 2" and "Factory +"?

I haven't been able to get to all of the items -- there's one at the beginning of "Cheese 1" that's at the top of the screen and seems to be impossible to get -- but you don't seem to need to get them to finish the levels. Or at least I've been able to finish each level without getting all the bones.

I agree with the demo-ish feel. There's just some level of freshness missing here. It's still better than Fat Bobby, though.

Are you referring to the version of Fat Bobby that Telegames released on cart, or the rom floating around on the internet that's an earlier version? Just curious because the only version of Fat Bobby or Raiden I've ever seen on YouTube (besides mine) are the earlier beta versions and I'm curious how many ppl actually play the versions Telegames released. (Released cart version of Raiden is impossibly hard btw).

I have the Atari beta that I bought from a former dealer. It’s complete, but has a cheat mode that seems to have been implemented for playtesting.
