Flashlight Effect/Sprites Behind Playfield?

I had asked my 5 year old son what would make my game harder and he suggested having the screen go dark and give the player a flashlight. It actually sounds cool. I'm not sure if it ia doable but I remember seeing some threads that either mentioned this or included similar gameplay elements but I cannot seem to find them in my searches.

I also thought I saw something about having sprites travel behind the playfield. Was not sure if either effect would be capable in batariBasic.

I did have an idea of how to make my son's idea work but was just doing some research for now, as this may not even be something I implement. Does anyone know the threads I may be referring to?

This is where I used the light around a Sprite and you could see the playfiled.

Just control f for flashlight or light for the code.
