Savetz
If you (like me ) are a MacOS user who has been just a little bit jealous of the Xformer 10 emulator (which only runs on Windows) for its ability to run multiple virtual Ataris at once. . . well, I got it running on my Mac! The trick is PlayOnMac, free software that lets you run some Windows software (without a Windows license.) It does some WINE magic, I'm not sure, but it works. https://www.playonmac.com/en/ Xformer isn't one of the built-in installable apps, but the "Install a non-listed program" feature worked! Get Xformer 10 here: http://www.emulators.com/freefile/xformer10.zip -Kevin 7

Savetz
Update. I upgraded to Catalina. PlayOnMac doesn't work under Catalina. WINE does, but I can't get Xformer10 to start under WINE. $ wine64 /Users/kevin/Downloads/xformer10/xformer10.exe 001b:err:ntoskrnl:ZwLoadDriver failed to create driver L"\\Registry\\Machine\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\wineusb": c0000142 000f:fixme:service:scmdatabase_autostart_services Auto-start service L"wineusb" failed to start: 1114 0020:err:plugplay:runloop_thread Couldn't open IOHIDManager. 0024:fixme:ntdll:server_ioctl_file Unsupported ioctl 24000 (device=2 access=1 func=0 method=0) 0026:fixme:ntdll:server_ioctl_file Unsupported ioctl 24000 (device=2 access=1 func=0 method=0) 0009:err:module:__wine_process_init L"Z:\\Users\\kevin\\Downloads\\xformer10\\xformer10.exe" not supported on this system Kays-MacBook-Pro:~ kevin$ wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF at address 00007FFF2FDDDE16 (thread 001c), starting debugger... 001c:err:seh:start_debugger Couldn't start debugger L"winedbg --auto 24 96" (1115) Read the Wine Developers Guide on how to set up winedbg or another debugger If anyone has gotten this to work, I'd like to know. toddtmw
Seems to work fine for me. I just opened terminal, CD'ed to the xformer10 directory and then typed: wine64 xformer10-x64.exe
Savetz
Ah! That did it. I wasn't cd-ing to the xformer directory first. Thanks!
+skr
12 hours ago, Savetz said: $ wine64 /Users/kevin/Downloads/xformer10/xformer10.exe Wrong file here, it should work withoud using "cd" like this: $ wine64 /Users/kevin/Downloads/xformer10/xformer10-x64.exe Create an Icon for it, so that you can open it with double clicking. Important here is to use the full path to wine64! You might need to change it, when it is in a different location than on my Mac. Because of the space in the folder path (Wine Devel.app) we need to quote that one with '\"'. Open script editor.app and then type: do shell script "/Applications/\"Wine Devel\".app/Contents/Resources/wine/bin/wine64 /Users/Kevin/Downloads/xformer10/xformer10-x64.exe" Do a test run by clicking the PLAY-Icon. If it works, go to File -> Export and as file type choose App. Give it a name and save it wherever you like. Now you got an App Icon which opens xformer10 when you double-click it. If you right click on the Icon a window appears, where you can choose "Information". Here you can drag&drop any graphics to the ugly script editor symbol to make the App Icon any way you want. I always use Lemkesoft´s Graphic Converter to convert graphics to ´s ".icns"-Format.
