3-D Printable Atari 8-bit Cartridge Holder

I really like these. I'll have to get a few printed up. I'll paint them to match the cartridges they hold (obviously leave it gray for XE carts).

I'll have some displayed next to each other and at least two as bookends for my Atari books.

It would be cool if they could be made with bookend "feet" to go under the books.

Are they hollow and open on the bottom? I'm just thinking about weighting possibilities...no need for "feet" if they can be made heavy.

That is a nice idea.

They are not open on the bottom, but they are not exactly solid (as I printed them) either. The 3d printer kind of honeycombs the "solid" internal parts ... just enough material for the needed structure. You can increase the "solid-ness", but it already takes about 7 hours to print and uses 15% to 20% of a spool of filament.

Uploaded to Shapeways just to see... $288 for one print

Damn! That's what I was going to look into...ridiculous, one might as well invest in their own printer at those prices!

And here I am naively thinking I could have a few printed up for $25 or less... :-o I guess I just turn to my old-school ways once again and copy the form out of plywood and saw and assemble and paint my own. That I can do for about $3 per unit. I've got some nice Atari logo/fuji stickers I can put on the side(s).

Here is the zipped up STL file:

attachicon.gifAtari 8-bit Cartridge Stand.zip

Thanks! Looks like it's less than 12x12x12 so I should be able to print it :) Haven't used the darn thing in months for anything useful.

Edit: Slic3r predicts around 6 USD of material needed at 25% infill.

And pronterface says:

The print goes:

- from 20.66 mm to 99.30 mm in X and is 78.64 mm wide

- from 4.50 mm to 115.42 mm in Y and is 110.92 mm deep

- from 0.00 mm to 112.20 mm in Z and is 112.20 mm high

Estimated duration: 561 layers, 15:05:56

Guess I have to start one early in the morning ;)

Edit2: 3dhubs.com can print it for €25,= in PLA and for €50,= in ABS, excl. shipping.

I printed mine with a $300 Flashforge Finder 3d printer using $20 HATCHBOX PLA 3D Printer Filament, Dimensional Accuracy +/- 0.03 mm, 1 kg Spool, 1.75 mm, Gray

I'd be willing to print them at $15 each plus shipping. Note that it takes 7+ hours to print and takes up to about 20% of a spool of filament. I'll weight and see how much of the 1 KG of filament is used.

I'd love to get two if you have the time

Bill, these are really nice!

I'll print these for people that want them. My slicer says it will cost $6.00 worth of filament.

PM me if you are interested. I will accept whatever you think they are worth (even if it is less than $6.00) (I'm definitely not looking to make any money here, just offering to help.)

I currently have these colors available:

Purple, black, red, white, green, yellow, brown, blue, grey (or gray), orange, glow in the dark and clear(ish)

Please let me know what color.

Cheers!

Thanks.
