Anyone else enjoying Colecovision on the Mega Sg?

That is one way to look at this. The other way is that someone had to come up with that so it could exist in the first place. And a certain mutual respect between members of this community regarding those efforts, something that some outsiders may not understand (or appreciate).

 

Besides, it would not exist if Eduardo didn't created it in the first place

We're a very small community, and rerspect should ALWAYS been applied, even we're not always agree with each others

You mean like how Konami made those MSX games and you ported them to Colecovision without a license?

 

 

Funny, that sounds like something I heard today from someone else.... what a coincidence... All of this, this "jailbreak", this thread, all those incredible coincidences...

If I'm wrong, please correct me, but I never saw an Officially licensed by Konami tag on your ports. Maybe I need to research more.

 

 

BTW, let me clarify that I'm glad you did those ports, you did great work. I highly enjoy playing them on the Mega Sg.

I would consider the mega sg for CV games if I wasnt already all in on the Phoenix

The Phoenix will still have some perks like being able to use original controllers, carts and has that F/18a mode if thats important to you. I also think the shell design is really cool in a retro way.

 

For me I can't stand original Coleco controllers, don't own any carts and desire HD resolutions so the Mega SG Coleco core is all I need.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure your ports weren't officially licensed, so isn't that like the Pot calling the Kettle Black?

ps. For the record I also bought the Mega Sg and think it's by far the best way to play by Sega games!

Did I say something that was incorrect? If a person has an issue with licensing but doesn't practice what they preach isn't that hypocritical?

First of all, not taking sides in this argument, Eduardo has a legitimate complaint because he created the SGM and he has a right to protect the work he put into it. He speaks for himself and his product.

You on the other hand, DO NOT SPEAK FOR KONAMI. You do not represent Konami. You do not have any ties to any of those games you mentioned. If Konami has an issue with those games that Opcode ported, they can contact Eduardo directly.

 

The ONLY reason you've even bringing it up is because you thrive on making drama and you can't stand the fact that Eduardo actually has a valid argument, so you had to throw that out as some sort of a rebuttal.

 

I gave you ONE WARNING and that was it. You need to drop your issue RIGHT NOW or it will be your last post in this thread.

 

Is that understood?

Yeah not having issues with anyone else in the thread, we all agree lots of great ways to play Coleco games and Mega Sg is now another option that I never thought would have happened. Win/Win.

 

I think the Mega Sg Coleco core will only be a positive for the Colecovision community. Should turn on even more people to the console. For some people the Mega Sg Coleco core will be their first Colecovision experience.

Most of us: no. Because, Mega SG does not support original controllers.

There's only a handfull of games that would require keypads, steering wheel, or trackball. A lot of people would rather not use the original coleco controller anyway.

 

The cartridge port might be a bigger deal than the controllers. There's no reason the mega sg couldn't support colecovision cartridges through an adapter.

I would agree, although there are alternate decent controllers in small numbers and will possibly be available in sizeable numbers in a year or so. But. that is not now, of course. I would say it depends on your level of fanaticism, such as, the requirement that it be able to play all games and use real carts, super action controllers, roller controllers, racing wheels, etc., and, additionally, power-pads, light guns, power gloves, for instance, in the case of Genesis and NES/SNES FPGAs/emulators - as in, not supported. For others, an equivalent of the standard controller is enough and others, just a joystick/dpad and two buttons.

Ordinary retail releases do not have those limitations and it is way too late to retroactively apply a limitation now.

 

Given how his post was written, I believe mr_me was speaking about future prospects, not past actions, w/r/t ordinary retail products. You answered your own question posed as to when, if ever, sale limitations were imposed on cartridges of any kind.

I beg ColecoVision fans to not support this. Support the Phoenix and the licensed SGM, so we can keep supporting the ColecoVision community back with new games and hardware.

 

I say this with the utmost respect for your work and ongoing projects -- but that's not how this works. As a casual (at best) Coleco fan, the proven, readily-available product that does many things is way more compelling to me than a single-purpose device. Sorry.

As a casual (at best) Coleco fan, you will get a casual (at best) support and attention for your Coleco needs from a readily-available product that does many things, but that being a ColecoVision isn’t the primary focus (not even close). If that is what you are paying for, I don’t see why it shouldn’t work for you.

I would play homebrew games on Mega SG than the original games released between 1982-1988 because you need to use keypad to start to play.
