WaverBoy
So, I was wondering, that good old double-shot hack for Space Invaders for which you hold down the reset switch before you turn on the console...is there any way to replicate that in the PSP2600 emulator? Nukey Shay
The emulator is based off Stella (which allows you to hold the key assigned to the switch as a game is loaded). If this is not possible for PSP, use a hack that already has the glitch in place for all game selections. Unfortunately the 2600 emulator for PSP must require the .a26 file extension for ROMs, as that's what all the other 2600 ROMs in the emulator have, and this .bin file isn't showing up in the emulator. I tried renaming the .bin file extension to .a26, but it didn't work. Thoughts?
Nukey Shay
Both .a26 and .bin refer to binary rom files. Some prefer to use the .a26 file extension, as the name is specific to the 2600 hardware. Renaming the file should have worked, unless the emulator expects that a game profile already exists. Do any other hacks function? You might try "Beast Invaders", which predates the creation of Stella 2.0 by 5 years (and has the glitch present by default). http://atariage.com/hack_page.php?SystemID=2600&SoftwareHackID=36 EDIT: Just checked my laptop, and the old version of Stella has this entry in it's database...so it should work (unless hacks were removed when creating the PSP build). beastinv.a26 Edited April 13, 2019 by Nukey Shay

The Beast Invaders hack works, but it would be nice to be able to play the original game with the double shot. Renaming the file using the .a26 file extension doesn't work; my MacBook still says it's a bin file when I highlight it, and it doesn't show up in the emulator. Any ideas? Thanks for your help! Nukey Shay
You might have file extensions hidden in your browser, which would explain why your mb still says it's a .bin. Space Invaders (dshot).a26
WaverBoy
You might have file extensions hidden in your browser, which would explain why your mb still says it's a .bin. You were correct about my Mac settings; I switched it to show all file extensions and was able to change the extension properly to .a26 so that it no longer shows as a .bin file, thank you. However, it still doesn't show up in PSP2600. I downloaded the last ROM you posted that already had the .a26 extension; that doesn't show up either. Nor does the ROM for Space Rocks I downloaded, even after properly changing the file extension. Perhaps these games just aren't compatible with PSP2600. :-( Edited April 20, 2019 by WaverBoy
Nukey Shay
You might be limited to only game Roms that existed in Stella's profile database prior to 2005. At least Jeff's hack works. Q: Stella has supported Cheetah codes for ages. Does PSP2600? The code for NTSC Space Invaders double-shot is 760000 (i.e. 760 00 0 = Rom address $760, change value to $00, no additional bytes).
