This is actually pretty impressive both graphically and audio. I can't figure out what to do with the 1st game though? None of the buttons in emulation seem to respond other than reset to take me back to the game selection menu. I'm assuming it just isn't quite complete hence...prototype.

So when shall Tempest review this one ?

Done, ages ago, I had to get the ROM back from him. HDD failure. Consider yourself lucky, people, Tempest is a living vault. I guess I never sent the dump to y-bot, so it took a bit of effort to get this out. Number one good thing is, it is not lost forever, I dumped it and it is now all over the place in digital form. :)

Oh, and fuck-finger-mens-v-neck-t-shirt.jpg assholes, who make repros and sell them for profit.

Interesting. I can't get the first minigame "How Many Zips" to ever make the ship stop like is described on Tempest's page write up? At least in emulation it doesn't seem to work properly. The other games I'm able to interact with and make work though.

Many thanks.

And curious about your thoughts on this:

Had the game been released, would it have been by Atari themselves, with perhaps a different style 5200 kids label or would it have been by CBS, using their uniquely shaped & colored cartridges?

My guess it would not have been along the lines of the normal Atari labeled carts. More like the yellow 2600 carts, could be a theory.

Yes, I understand the theory, as per say, in had Atari released it and/or any other Kids Controller games for the 5200, it would have possibly had a new label variation. I guess I just got confused with CBS and their releases for the 400/800 line. (brown carts) and I was thinking of the odd shaped CBS 5200 brown carts, since it is a CBS game. I mean, really, is this an Atari or a CBS game?

There is an unreleased 5200 Kids Controller. It's the 2600 Kids Controller painted black and has a silver label across it. There's pics of it on Cyber Roach's old website. Dan Kramer has a lot of the silver labels left from them.

Did you ever get this working? I used emulation when I did my review so it definitely works on emulators. I forget which one I used though.

Is this one of the games that John Skruch held in his vault at Atari in the early 90's just before Atari faded into nothing? I know he had quite the assortment of unreleased 5200 goodies like Tempest, Sport Goofy and Donald Duck's Speedboat. Very cool to see... though I can't imagine very many 5200-owning kids having the chance to play this, since that in itself would have probably been astronomically low.

I use the emulator Altira (SP?). And I was able to finally get past it by remapping the keys from the defaults. Default is shift and cntl I think? Anyway I remapped the fire button 1 and 2 to Z and X like I usually do in my emulators. Even then it still took me having to press a few times before it seemed to register and get past it. All the other game modes seemed to respond instantly. I didn't try it with any other emus as Altira has always done what I needed to do very well. I might still have Atari800win on my PC somewhere...

A 5200 version of Donald Duck's Speedboat?
