Chuck E, Cheese to remodel?

Caught the tail end of a radio newsblurb. Said that CEC is planning on ditching the animatronics because they're creepy. Even more so in this day and age. They talked about an adult menu with real beer and an adult bar area with 70's wood paneling.

I guess they finally have to modernize.

I can't believe they lasted this long. Everything else from that era has gone long ago.

Around here, you don't want to go to CEC. The people that still go there are dangerous and rude. The people that weren't stopped going in the mid 90's.

Interesting. The location in the article is about 1/2 an hour from me. I haven’t been in a Chuck E Cheese’s for a long time. Haven’t been to a Dave and Busters for a long time either.

Wow. So you are going stereotype an entire customer base? Your statement is more a reflection about the people who live near you then a customer client base. You should probably move!

Anyway my 9 year old still likes to go to Chuck E Cheese and had a birthday party there last year. It's OK and a decent change for a birthday party. We've gone to the all you can play Wednesday a few times as a special reward. It's certainly not a great place as the food is horrible and overpriced but the games and interactive Chucky are nice. When we have gone we stopped at local dinner first and got much taster food than offered at Chuck E Cheese.

My near-local D&B was going like gangbusters this past 6 month'ish or so. Nearly all the tables were full and the place was as loud as a party at Hades'.

It still bothers me, however, that the 2 classic cabinets in the front vestibule are boarderline working and near decrepit. Reminded me of when I first discovered the "back room" of an arcade. And how these cabs were simply overworked vehicles for taking money from your pocket. The machines there were like all patchwork and everything. Ughh..

Note that I said "around here". I don't know your area...

Almost the same here. The clientele is more lame and just "slow" rather than rude. I mean they're the lower class that doesn't know how to help themselves and it shouldn't be necessarily be taken wrong if you get something spilled on you or bumped.

And yes the good folks stopped going there in the 90's.

The bit about demographics and kids growing up faster rings true to me. I wonder if they're too late? I can't imagine that "adult" chains like Dave and Busters are doing much better.

Well the older pre-teens have so many more options than those of decades ago. The local D&B does pretty good mostly due to beer and food specials but certainly not packed for the games.

I gotta disagree there, at least when considering my D&B. The redemption games are at an all-time high popularity. The parents (the ones with the money) even get in on the action in collecting bags and bags of tickets to redeem for something. It happens at frantic pace that just blurs my head. All the commotion and noise. So busy at peak times they put some lackey out next to the toy area to help pre-count your tickets.

I'd definitely go to a Chuck E' Cheese that's been remodeled. My daughter loves CEC, and we used to go all the time when she was younger. I know what R.Code means... generally you have lower income families... sometimes gangsters and whatever. They're there with their kids, so I don't think it's intentional. It depends where you go though. I don't want to hate on anyone... if they're trying to spend time with their kids, I don't care how they dress.

Lately though, my daughter hasn't had any real interest in CEC. Though I don't think she'd say no if I took her. She specifically requests Dave & Busters though. I'd say both places are packed. Dave & Busters is always, I mean always packed. It usually has teenagers, and families. But I've also gone there for business parties. CEC generally has younger kids.
