My Atari VCS predictions: A New Gambling Machine For your home...

Recommended Posts

Here is what I believe current Atari's plans are for the VCS based on the video conference of the current CEO that was recently released: Atari now consists of only about 5 employees and the current CEO wants to keep it that way. He has sold the rights to the Alone in th Dark Franchise. He says Atari casinos are one of their most valuable assets. Current Atari has created their own bitcoin, the Atari coin. Remember that? There has been literally no video of any upcoming games for the VCS console yet we know it will come pre-loaded with Atari VAULT. We also have a rumor of Tempest 4000 but other than that no games.

No other 3rd party developers have announced any development for the console. Neither have any indie devs. Now the whole shit show looks very unorganized as if were being ran by only 5 people. But obviously they have paid AMD to make SOMETHING RIGHT? Correct! Imagine a world where you own an Atari VCS in your home that is connected to the internet via the Atari streaming services. Now imagine you can order $20 worth of Atari Coins from their online store with real money similar to Playstation store. Remember all those Atari Casino games? You will be able to access said games and gamble your Atari bitcoin away! You will likely lose all of your money, but in the event that you DO WIN dont worry as I'm sure Atari will make it quite the pain in the ass to convert your Atari coin winnings into real world money..... So I guess you lose anyway? But Jeff how could you say these things? Lets look at the facts. Everyone has been asking who is this thing being marketed to? Older men/women 30-50 years in age. People who remember Atari as a kid and are all grown up. Adults who probably wouldn't mind gambling. Hell these people have already played the ultimate gamble by investing $3 MILLION in Atari's Indigogo campaign, why wouldn't they gamble for money online? I honestly believe Atari will go bankrupt before they produce this thing, but if it ever does see the light of day I am predicting you are looking at an At Home Online Gambling box. This is all speculation however this idea and business mold fits the new Atari brand perfectly. What do you guys think?

Yeah, the taco thread is a better place for discussing this. ?

I think you're giving them waaaaaaaaaaay to much credit for innovation and ambition. They haven't done anything that far outside the box yet, why would they start now?

Gambling devices are fraught with regulations and oversight. That's not "Atari's" bag. They can't even post updates about their project.

Speaking of which, how's your Jaguar re-creation coming along, you beautiful dreamer you?

Well to me the first obvious "mission" this guy could have would be to milk the Atari name for every single penny it's worth and then bail by fileing bankruptcy.

But after watching the guys video presentation and listening to what came out of his mouth as well as studying his mannerisms, I tried to put myself inside his head. I tried to think like he thinks and see if it was possible that he may have another mission/goal.

Thats what I came up. It would explain the lack of software footage or coverage because in reality all of the games would just be their existing gambling software from their casinos. If I'm not mistaken online gambling with real money is very much illegal in many parts of the world. He stated that he was trying to rebuild the brand into something else. Remember how Nintendo disguised the NES as a childs toy to get it in the American market? With this theory he would be disguising an illegal piece of gambling hardware as a video game console. Afterall the Atari coin has been created for SOMETHING. It would be a work around the law. It also would require more than 5 employees to manage a company that basically just steals money from its consumers.

When I think about the indigoo campaign and how much money they raised as I am inside this guys head pretending to be him I come to this conclusion, he may be thinking this: "wow! We got that much money from those dummies? Let's try and get more and more!" I feel like the Atari VAULT collection would be the equivalent of the R.O.B. the robot accessory included with the NES. It would just be the technicality that keeps it a game console. I wouldn't imagine any other software would ever become available for the damn thing. (Unless homebrewers stepped in)

I encourage people to look up this video and watch it. See how this guy is talking about Atari. He is definitely a criminal and he is up to no good.

As for the Jaguar reproduction console no good news yet.

If memory serves, this was tried in the past in the United States -- some state lottery organization (possibly in the Midwest) tried a test-market of online gambling using a game console. There was widespread public opposition.

And here is the link: https://www.nytimes.com/1991/09/27/business/nintendo-and-minnesota-set-a-living-room-lottery-test.html and https://kotaku.com/when-nintendo-wanted-to-bring-gambling-into-american-ho-5838193

If Nintendo failed to make this work, does anyone really expect that the ghost of Atari can do better?
