Philips and Mattel Were Working Together in 1983?

It's new news for for me since I don't get out of the Intellivision area too much. No room in the apartment for more than 1 console collection.

I suppose it might've been bigger news to the Magnavox Odyssey^2 community if Philips/Magnavox seeked some kind of cooperation or at least synchronized efforts with Mattel, than it would be for the Intellivision community that Mattel at some point worked with Philips. Like I commented in the other thread, it is not obvious to know who would benefit what from it. Philips was a major manufacturer over both Europe and I suppose through Magnavox also in America, so perhaps Mattel saw opportunities for production capacity. Philips may have had one more try with consoles before abandoning that market as the "crash" was cleaning up the field.
