Nintendo DS flash kit -- Got one?

I'm looking to get one, a good one that doesn't have that timebomb I've been reading up on that seems to kill the things starting as early as last year which seems pretty sleazy.

I thin the EZFlash EZ5i and the supercard DSTwo/Two Plus are the most preferred for stability and ease of use if you want to use stock games or go with running emulators and homebrew without problems. Thanks.

What timebomb? I never go online so should I worry about something anyway? MY DS Lite actually kinda died last year (faulty buttons) but it was still working with the card.

I have CycloDS and back in the day it was considered the best one. But then the support died and I think they shut down shop. No idea what the modern scene is like anymore.

Apparently and it's primarily the makers of the R4 and those who from the same chinese factorys jacked their same parts made them to IMPLODE. Basically they have a hardwired kill switch of sorts in the card itself which will basically make it commit suicide, and the timebomb appears to be something that just started rolling out now in recent times starting in 2018 from what I've investigated so far.

This page lists all the known good DS/3DS level kits with the R4 branding and others, has a +/- of quality list and includes if they die of the timebomb but not what it is. https://www.reddit.com/r/flashcarts/comments/6u7fuu/which_flashcart_do_i_want_start_here/

Someone (ctrl+f) in the comments area asked wtf that was, and the reply was this: "I know this post is old but a time Bomb means the flash cart won’t work in a certain year and onward, like 2019 and onward. 1 way to fix this is to set the date back 10 years. So you have that long to play it. Or you could change the system menu to something else like YSmenu."

So it's not really a death sentence, but I don't see value in taking a system and ever so often setting back the system time so it plays nice with a kit built intentionally to stop working so the makers can make you get an upgrade.
