Mr Robot
The AVG cart player is a new version of the software updated by tmp and i don't think there is another version that will play the files. Everyone else has to write the video files to a CF card as a disk image and run the player, there is one for the XEL-CF and the SiDE2 See this topic for more info http://atariage.com/forums/topic/211689-60-fps-video-using-side-2/page-1
+skr
I know that thread, but it doesn´t help me. I´ve got movplay60n.obx, renamed to .xex to be visible in the SIDE loader. But it can´t find the video. So the basic question might be: How to copy the video to the CF card to be visible in the SIDE loader?
Mr Robot
You don't copy it to the cf card, it's a disk image like a linux disk image, you use a program like winimage, df or etcher to write it to the cf card. tmp's new version of the player allows AVG cart users to copy the files to an SD card and it will provide a menu of all of them with the right file extension and play them (as long as they are contiguous on the card so you need to use contig to make sure) I would love to get a version of tmps version of phaerons player that works with the CFIII, I want to have a go at making the E.R.I.C. system self contained, but without the ability to pick a file and play it or seek to a frame of an image and play from there to a set end point it can't be done. flashjazzcat
I would love to get a version of tmps version of phaerons player that works with the CFIII, I want to have a go at making the E.R.I.C. system self contained, but without the ability to pick a file and play it or seek to a frame of an image and play from there to a set end point it can't be done. I suggested to Avery a while ago that I'd be happy to write a front end for his video player which would catalogue a set of FAT-hosted video files and play them. The issue is that I wanted to remove the requirement for every file to be fully defragmented. As does my 'PDM Player', a list of cluster numbers would be created in RAM so that FAT seeking could be avoided during playback. The only requirement (not currently satisfied by the existing encoding tools, AFAIK) is that each video frame (including audio) would fit into an 8K FAT cluster (by means of shaving off a few screen lines). Currently, each frame occupies 17 sectors; it needs to be 16 on a FAT partition with 8K clusters. If anyone can help with the encoding side, the necessary modifications to the player to enable versatile file-based playback on SIDE, XEL-CF, etc, should not be too difficult to accomplish.
