wiimote vs motion plus wiimote for lightgun games?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

Me and a friend of mine are going to be getting into some co-op lightguns games on his Wii. He has the standard Wiimotes. I'm wondering, Is there really much of a difference in accuracy/response between these and the motion plus wiimotes? Like would you be able to tell instantly if someone swapped it on you?

To add to what's been said, here's a useful list of Wii and Wii U releases that supported Wii MotionPlus.

If it's not on here, it can't take advantage of the added capabilities of a Wii MotionPlus equipped Wiimote.

Thee are loads of great lightgun games for the Wii. It has one of the largest collections around.

Here is a really good list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_gun_games

The downside is that the wii remote isn't exactly like a real lightgun. This is a good site for working out how to play them all on an emulator fo that you can use a'real'  aimable lightgun that you can use without needing a cursor on screen:

Yes. Yes, there is a mind blowing difference. But the difference isn't due to the motion plus functionality. The motion plus devices happen to be more accurate outside motion plus mode...

I made a video about it:

Something I'd really like to explore more of in the future should time ever allow me to. I feel like I've really missed out on this genre, as the only system I ever had a gun for was the NES. I did get to play some great arcade examples though. I'm glad to see there are options out there for revisiting these beyond what was re-released on the Wii.

Great video, I had no idea there were so many cradles and guns released for the Wii; I should have looked harder. I have that Nerf cradle you showed, in addition to the zapper. I like both of them, for different games.
