liquid_sky
I realize this is a pretty dumb question... but do the Atari 8-bit games ever have color in them? I always end up with black and white games, and then the blue/blue system style, but that is it. I have tried AutoDuel, Drol, Castle Wolfenstein.. all the same. Am I an idiot and I have some strange monochrome setting enabled in Atari800Win? This curious lack of color bugs me
DanBoris
Yes, they do have color, but you happen to pick three games that didn't have much color to them, they scarificed color for higher resolution. Try some more games, most do have more color then those 3. Dan
liquid_sky
Thanks, I guess my bad luck also leaked into my choice of games to become familiar with the atari-8 bit
+bcombee
Many games, especially ones ported from the Apple II, used NTSC artifacting to display colors. This is a technique where the placement of pixels in mode 8 (320x192) determined what color is seen. The emulator has a switch to enable/disable color so you can work in the hi-res mode and see individual pixels, not the artifacted versions.
