Gunstar
One of my 1050 power supplies recently stopped working and I was about to throw it out and get a replacement. however, being the curious person that I am, I plugged it in one last time and held it up to my ear. It was still humming! So through deduction, I figured that there must be a short someplace between the transformer and the plug to the 1050. I opened it up and low and behold, there is a 120v 5amp fuse soldered in place between the transformer and the line out. It was blown out. So I de-soldered it and replaced it with one (of the same resistance)I bought at RadioShack for less than a buck. My powerpack, of course, now works perfectly again! So if you have any powerpacks laying around that don't work or if one ever goes out on you, open it up and see if the fuse is blown before replacing it or throwing it out. It can save you a bit of money and shipping time (assuming you are proficient with a soldering iron, or even own one...).
Mot
I just bought an Atari 400 computer. I got it home and it didn't work. I checked the power supply and nothing. So I opened it (it took some work to open, I even cut myself) and found a blown fuse inside. I have not replaced yet but I will. I still don't know if the 400 will work it's self. BTW: I didn't think of returning it because it was only $8 and came with 2 very nice joysticks, paddles, 2 carts DK and pacman.
