Dracon
There is available a new version of wellknown atari 8-bit emulator - Atari800Win PLus. This one contains some serious fixes and updates so you have to check it out by yourself! For example, from now on you can see cycle-exact screen emulation and better sound replaying... It turned out that some "problematic" productions so far, like GED editor or several demos (Our 5oft's UNITY part or STUDIO DREAMS by TGC) work perfectly (or almost ) now! . To download it, just go to this site: http://www.atariarea.histeria.pl/PLus/index_pl.htm P.S. It's a beta version!
Bryan
Awesome. I'll check it out. -Bry
emkay
What a progress. This Time I am really impressed. I have checked it out with my game ADMIRANDUS and 99% works fine. Not only the mid-line registerchangings are 99% ok right now. The 16bit dependence in POKEY's Sound-channels is correct sounding right now either. Two minor problems still occure. The color palettes showing some colors wrong Registerchangings are not allways correct (see below the white arrow) But Anyway. This is a very impressive update
DEBRO
I see the 5200 "SHIFT" key bug was addressed too. I'll have to try this one.

emkay
I am really astonished about the accurate POKEY Emulation....Nearly everything seems to be allright... The emulation is now OK to develop music on it at 50Hz at least. Further tests are still going on
TMR
Okay, so on the plus side i'm a happy bunny 'cos i've just ran Reaxion A8 through the new version and it seems to work perfectly on a code level - but the colours are all over the place! Now before i put the work in modifying everything, which version of Atari 800 Win is closer to the real deal? Judging by the digital photos Heaven sent last time he tested it for me, the old one was closer...?!

"REAL" is allmost like the "real" palette on the 800XL . Please compare to the MCS-Picture in the thread "MCS-again" which was shown much more wrong. pps
Yeah! Sounds great! I´d thought that the programme was put on ice. But, yeah, today we have a new version!!! @tmr:you want another test of your works, try the following emulator: ATARI++ The author tries to write a cycle exact emulation. Many things was better on this emulation, than atari800winplus 3.1. greets from Berlin, PP´s
Fres
I like the new features. However, I seem to be having some collision-detection problems. For example, River Raid is unplayable because my shots always miss the targets, and the fuel depots are untouchable. Collision-detection is set to "on" in the emulator. Is this a bug? Dracon
Sure, I can send mail to the author. You know, it's just a beta version and it should be fixed in final one.
jindroush
Dracon: and while you're at mailing them, please remind them to release source every time they release binary. Otherwise they're breaking GPL.
Fres
I wish more emulators were of the high quality of Atari800winPLus. It amazes me the attention to detail that was put into this emulator (the interface, options, etc.). I like emulators for LOTS of systems (Steem is also an excellent one), but I really think a lot of emulator authors could take a lesson from the authors of Atari800winPLus. If only there were a fullscreen mode that matched the aspect ratio of an 800XL better.
Albert
Wow, this is great! I was also wondering if this project was dead, but it's fantastic to see a new version with so many improvements. Thanks for the heads up! /me runs to post news... ..Al
Sharky
Ive just install 4.0 over my 3.1 and tested it with the Numen Demo, Im very impressed of the clearer chrispy Pokey Sound emulation.
Dracon
Im very impressed of the clearer chrispy Pokey Sound emulation. Yeah, that's right. Did you also notice that pictures from that demo look much more clear and colorful ? Besides one of the authors of the "PLus" version lately wrote that collisions' problem is due to bug in Atari800 core itself, he now is examing it, so hold on... Shawn Jefferson
I read on csa8 that the collision detection bug is a bug in the Atari800 sources and should be fixed soon.
Albert
I just started taking screenshots for the Atari 8-bit section here on AtariAge, and am disappointed that collision detection barely seems to work. It makes most of the games I'm playing unplayable. I'll have to use another emulator to take screenshots for now. However, it does make some games, such as H.E.R.O. much easier. ..Al
Dracon
Check this out - it's 2nd beta version. This time collisions are turned on but maybe they are... too strong ? Source from it is here.
Albert
Check this out - it's 2nd beta version. This time collisions are turned on but maybe they are... too strong ? Thanks for the tip, I downloaded this version and it is better. However, there are still collision detection problems as you noted. River Raid cannot even be played because you die almost immediately after starting, even though you don't hit anything! ..Al
