Albert
I don't have one of those XC12 cassette players. Does anyone know if those were sold in the United States or just over in Europe? Btw, bsg, if you find you've made a mistake in a message you posted, you can click the the paper/pencil icon above the message to edit it. It's a good thing this feature exists, because I make mistakes all the time. ..Al
bsg
Thanks Al, didn't realise you could edit messages after they had been posted - excellent (especially taking into account the amount of mistakes I make ) I'm not sure about the XC12 datasette - I origionally had a 1010 datasette with my first 800xl but that went the way of all kids computers - in the bin when it broke I've only recently got back into the retro computer groove and somehow mnanaged to bid on quite a few duplicate items on yahoo and ebay which was a bit silly. I now use a SIO2PC lead supplied to me by j131 in Poland (excellent service for this btw, if anybody needs his email i'd be happy to supply it) and my laptop so the 1050 and XC12 are no longer needed. Gunstar
it was released everywhere but the US AFAIK. By that time, Atari figured correctly that everyone in the US was moving on to more advanced media(including software houses), i.e.;disks. So we only had the 410 and 1010 to choose from...although, I think B&C and/or Best E. have the XC's in stock now.

Nukey Shay
Hokey smoke, the edit post feature does work! j/k BTW back in the '80s, there was a 3rd party that made a standard cassette interface for the C64 & Vic20 computers. Before they were liquidated to Protecto Enterprises (who also advertised it, as I recall), I believe that they announced a similar cable for the Atari line. Anyone know what company that was, or if it was just vaporware? [ 11-22-2001: Message edited by: Nukey Shay ]

I'm guessing the 8-bits had a much longer run in Europe than they did here in the states. Same thing with the Atari ST. I'll definitely check out B&C and Best Electronics to see if I can get my hands on one of those relatively inexpensively. No, I probably won't use it, but I would like to take some pictures and scan the manuals for our upcoming 8-bit section. I have a great deal of Atari 8-bit hardware at the moment, but there are a few pieces that I still need to get my hands on, like an ICD MIO board. So if anyone ever comes across one of those, please let me know (preferrably the 1MB version, but beggars can't be choosy!) ..Al

[ 11-22-2001: Message edited by: Nukey Shay ] my first tape deck for my xe was an after market one...i don't remember the brand, but it was low-profile to match the xl/xe, tan colored, and sported a palm tree icon nezt to the name...
