BraddW
Hi everyone, I just bought the cartridge version of the game Gato off of ebay. I also read somewhere that there is a 128k XE version of this game. Has anyone ever played this version of the game? If so, how does it differ from the cart version? Thanks for any info. ApolloBoy
Aren't they the same?
Callipygous
Yes, its an XE cart. The other version is on disk. Not sure if there is any difference in the two.
BraddW
I don't know if they are the same or not. I have seen ATR files online that are supposed to be 128K. IF they are 128K I would think that they have some extra features that the cart version doesn't have. I'll have to get myself an emulator and download one of those 128K images and compare it to my Cart version when it gets here. Thanks for the replies. Randy California
The version you are referring to is just the cartridge release dumped to disk. Additional RAM is needed because the file is too big for the memory of a standard 800 or XL machine. ++ RC ++
BraddW
Ranyd, Thanks for the info. Now I don't need to bother with D/ling the ATR. Bradd
Callipygous
Wasn't the disk version first? from Spectrum Holobyte although I don't know who actually marketed it. Are we saying that this cart is the XE megabit (128k) cart? I think FS II is.
Randy California
Wasn't the disk version first? from Spectrum Holobyte although I don't know who actually marketed it. GATO was only released on cartridge for the A8. I believe the original version was for the PC, Amiga, Mac, ST (and possibly Apple and C64). ++ RC ++
Callipygous
Ah okay. It was the Atari St version that I remembered.
ZylonBane
Are we saying that this cart is the XE megabit (128k) cart? It's the 21st century. Can we finally put a bullet in that godawful "megabit" terminology for ROM sizes?
