Albert
Okay, I have a question for all you Lynx gurus out there. I have a copy of World Class Soccer, but the box says World Class Fussball/Soccer. In the catalogs I've been scanning, it's listed as World Class Soccer. In the game itself, it's called World Class Soccer. So what's with "Fussball"? Was it ever released in a "World Class Soccer" box? And what the heck is "Fussball"? Is that just another word for Soccer (in some strange, foreign tongue like German?) If so, was this an international release of the game? Thanks for quenching my curiosity. ..Al
Lemmi
Is'nt Fussball played on a table with rows of guys that spin on poles stuck though their sides?
Fretwobbler
quoteIs'nt Fussball played on a table with rows of guys that spin on poles stuck though their sides? thats table football Lemmi - BTW if you ever go to France and an eight year old kid asks you to play that, run a mile - they treat Table Football like you treat Baseball or something. Ive been a football(thats the English version) fan all my life and Ive never come accross the term Fussball. Spelling mistake? Adam

Spelling mistake? If you do a search for fussball on Google, you'll come up with quite a few hits. For instance, here's a Fussball Online site. Judging by the soccer ball that's part of the site's logo, I'd say Fussball is just another word for Soccer (or Football as it's known outside the US). Oh, and table soccer is called Foosball. I'd still like to know if the box is available in a style that simply says, "World Class Soccer". ..Al
Fretwobbler
Thats interesting - which country has DNS lookups ending with .ch??? At first I thought it could have been a slang term for indoor football which is referred to as softball and sometimes people call the furry footballs used indoors fuzzy. I cant recognize that language at all on that .ch site (not that I can speak any other languages!!) but I can normally pick out some words you can recognize. Fretwobbler
This phrase - wichtige Termine der kommenden Woche auf einen Blick looks German to me but the DNS would be .de then wouldn't it? +rdemming
Fussball is german for soccer. (See Deutscher Fussball-Bund website) I think they put it on the box to attract the German people (soccer is quite popular there) since English is not much spoken over there and they might not know that soccer is the same as Fussball. An easy mistake is to translate fussball to football which is a different kind of ball game than soccer. Robert
ren.dhark
quotesince English is not much spoken over there and they might not know that soccer is the same as Fussball I think most of the people in Germany (maybe not the older) speaks english, since you have to learn this in school Günther [ 02-05-2002: Message edited by: ren.dhark ]
Lemmi
Now that im older and not in School, i wish now that i would have taken a language class, it wasnt a required class back when i went to High School, i think now i would have taken a German class, just because part of my family came from Germany , my Grandfathers parents came from Germany to america in 1904
ren.dhark
I´m older too (35), and I forgot most of the things I learned at school (my english was better at this time). But if you are interessted in classic games, it´s better you understand english. And Lemmi, it´s not too late learning another language.
