+davidcalgary29
Can anyone advise if the Smurfs game available for the 8-bits was coded as a PD release (regardless of licensing issues), or is an unreleased commercial program? +davidcalgary29
I'm sorry -- I couldn't find an image of the file on-line, but Dean Garraghty lists it for sale on one of his PD disks: http://www.dgs.clara.net/list1.htm Perhaps someone here has it. It does leave much to be desired as a game, though.
Curt Vendel
Hmmmm, Id love to see some screen shots of the game, the only "Atari" version of smurfs was supposed to be the 2600 vcs ones, I don't think Coleco who owned the home game/computer rights ever did or even planned 5200/800 versions of their games, that would've given the buying public a reason not to buy the Colecovision version, so I don't think they would've wanted that... it must be a homebrew author written game, I'd still like to see a screenshot, anyone anyone???? +davidcalgary29
I originally played "Smurfs" in the '80s when I purchased a copy of it from Don Bell on one of his Bellcom PD disks. This leads me to the belief that it was a homebrew effort, as Don didn't include pirated or hacked commercial releases on his disks. The game's a platformer, but the graphics are very mediocre and it doesn't (much to my disappointment) play anything like "Smurf Rescue" on the CV. I'll have a look through my Bellcom disks tonight; I may have it there.

+davidcalgary29
I do have an animated picture of a rather heroically-endowed unnamed Smurf enjoying an a moment of intimacy with a very nude Smurfette, if you're interested. I find it amazing that people put energy into creating this sort of thing. [/u]
Randy California
Don't get too excited, it's just a very simple game written in BASIC, probably a German type-in or something... ++ RC ++

Parents were angered because kids were figuring out at the last screen where Smurfette is on the table, if you did a combination of joystick moves, Smurfette would do a strip tease. I remember one video gaming mag has discussed the issue, but I don't know if it gave the joystick sequence to get Smurfette to do her strip. When you reach the last screen where Smurfette is standing on a platform next to a skull, stop, and then make Smurf go back to the last screen he left. Now look at what Smurfette does when the screen starts to shift again! (Okay, boys, you can stop drooling now!)
Lord-Chaos
Can anyone advise if the Smurfs game available for the 8-bits was coded as a PD release (regardless of licensing issues), or is an unreleased commercial program? One Smurf - clone was a BASIC type-in game in a German magazine called "Computronic" , it was in one of the 1986 issues AFAIK. The "Computronic" was a German magazine with type-in listings for ATARI 800 XL,C64,Sinclair Spectrum,VC20,C16,Apple II and Amstrad machines.I think the first issue was released in 84 or 85, the last one by end of 1987. AFAIK this Smurf game has no enemies , it´s just jumping over obstacles.Since it´s plain BASIC , it should be simple to improve the game with some machine code.
