Fretwobbler
Jags are going cheap in EB stores over here for some reason, brand new ones as well, I thought they stopped making them There about(the equivalent of) $50 (£30 to be exact) so this leaves me with a budget of about $50 to obtain a huge collection for it. I'll be happy if I can get 3 titles. Recommendations? Ive never played the Jaguar before so please offer guidance. I generally like - Doom style, racing, puzzle/strategy. I'm not to keen on platform games (except Pitfall and HERO of course!) Thankyou! Adam

Adrian M
Here are the games that I consider "must-have" on the Jaguar platform: Tempest 2000 Iron Soldier Theme Park Sydnicate Cybermorph (preferably the circa 1993 2MB version!) Rayman Missile Command 3D Super Burnout Atari Karts Aliens Vs. Predator Power Drive Rally Defender 2000 In my experience, these are the BEST games for the system. That's not to say that the other games aren't good, but these titles truly stand out and are worth obtaining if you own a Jag.
Fretwobbler
Thanks for the pointers chaps I didnt realise you could get Sydicate, I used to have that on the Commodore Amiga and loved it! Just so you know how you advice has helped me I am going to seek out these four titles first - DOOM (this has been my wife ever since 1991 on PC, PSone and now Gameboy Advanced - commuting to work has never been such fun!) Syndicate Powerdrive Rally (thanks for the detail on Super Burnout Gunstar but I'm more a fan of Colin McCrae than Carl Fogherty Thankyou one and all! Tyrant
Is it only me or does anyone else really hate Syndicate's controls? Games like Syndicate, and Cannon Fodder, really suffer from not having a mouse. Am I the only one to think Syndicate on the jag really kinda sux? The graphics could be done on a 16 bit machine, the interface is a real pain, and its just waay too complex a game to have as little on screen help as it does. There's almost no pointers on screen as to what icons do, how to do things, etc. Its a shame cause I've only briefly played it on pc, and really liked it, but its too confusing on jag, especially when I dont have an overlay. Fretwobbler
I agree with you on the Cannon Fodder mouse thing Tyrant. I have it on the Megadrive but gave up when I was confronted by the slippery stairway, impossible! Sydicate on the other hand is just such a fantastically dark, mysterious and calculating title I'll just overcome the no-mouse disability. Gunstar
If you want a top-notch racing game for a dirt cheap price, I'd definately go with Super Burnout motorcycle racing. This game, while sprite based and not polygon, has fantastic graphics and moves along at the the same blazing speed of the latest racers on the 128-bit machines; 60fps. It has perfect control and challenging artificial intelligence in the computer vehicles, they put up a real fight! Also, it has a two player split screen mode that runs every bit as fast as one player...blazing. Plenty of tracks and bikes to try, and the bikes definately handle differently from one another. It also has a secret bike locked away! For a good Doom style game, you have your choice of DOOM, and the Jaguar version is arguably the best console version there is, with great graphics and system unique lighting effects and every level after 17 (there are 24) is unique to the Jaguar. This one and Wolfenstein 3D on the Jag are both programmed by the original team: ID, not a port done by another company. W3D is also arguably the best console version as well, being the ONLY one that is true full screen and still lightning fast, true stereo sound effects are to be had as well as a higher resolution than the old PC version. Then of course there is the classic Alien vs. Predator which has a LOT more strategy involved and is garanteed to scare the hell out of you! If you get stuck, I gave a strategy guide to a german site: Jaguar64.de, a complete walk through... Another great strategy game is the classic Syndicate, while no better than any other version (on 32+ bit machines), it is just as good and an excellent strategy title. Puzzle games? Zoop or Flipout. Ze_ro
If you only get three Jaguar games, you have to get: Tempest 2000 Alien Vs. Predator Super Burnout The first two are probably the most famous Jaguar games, but Super Burnout is one of the most overlooked ones. --Zero
Fretwobbler
Alien Vs Predetor goes for anything upto £40.00 in UK so it must be great, my budgets a bit tight at the moment though. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll...item=1305771671 Adam
