It seems to me there are only 5 must have games for it and the rest seem like 16 bit games. When it first came out i thought it was worst thing i ever saw. 64 bit graphics except they looked worse then SNES games. Has everyone here been buying them lately just cause their cheap and want to have every atari system? Is there anyone here that just loved the atari system when it came out?

I bought a Jaguar when they first came out and except for Tempest 2000, I wasn't terribly impressed with the other games I purchased. Those were Wolfenstein 3D, Raiden, Dino Dudes, and Crescent Galaxy. And of course Cybermorph, which came with the system. The only reason I know these were the games I had (besides Tempest 2000, which I fondly remember) was because of a Usenet post I made in an attempt to sell my Jaguar. I started at $350, then $250, then $200. I have no idea what I ultimately sold it for! Thanks to Google for recently extending their Usenet archive.

So yes, the initial Jaguar lineup wasn't too spectacular. I really enjoyed (and still do to this day!) Tempest 2000, but the software was trickling out so s-l-o-w-l-y that I eventually lost patience with Atari and sold my Jaguar, a bit too soon to enjoy many of the better titles that did eventually come out. But I do have a Jaguar now, and am able to finally play all those games I missed out on.

How about puppy love? Definitely in "like". I like side scrolling shooters, so Trevor McFur appealed to me, even if 16bit systems could do the same thing. And while CyberMorph isn't like the 3d games that were soon to follow (for various systems), it was new and pretty neat, albiet a little slow.

I never had one, but I remember playing one at a friends house and not being particularly impressed with it. He's the kind of guy who had EVERY system in highschool, so I think after about a half-hour, we ended up playing some TG-CD games.

So I've got a pretty low opinion of the Jag, and it's one of the few "old" systems I don't own. If I found one cheap, I probably would buy it, coz there's got to be some decent games for it. Even the 32X has some good games!

Well, I for one bought this beast when it came out, and never looked back! I loved it the moment I got it. I was a little upset with Atari cancelling, or delaying, or rushing games through development... but I still have high opinions of almost all the games.

I really don't think it's fair to say that the games have SNES quality graphics just because they're not 3D (That's what it all comes down to, right?). Games like Evolution: Dino Dudes and Trevor McFur in the Crescent Galaxy may be 2D games, but there's no way the SNES could match the resolution and number of colors. The 3D games available on the Jaguar destroy the SNES too... just compare Doom (or Wolfenstein) on each system, and you'll see what I mean. There's no chance in hell you'll get anything as good as Battlemorph on a SNES, even with all the SuperFX chips in the world.

In these days of Playstation 2's and all, people always forget that games don't NEED to be 3D to be fun... in fact, the 3D usually makes the game harder to play in my opinion, because you can't see as much.

I bought about a year after it came out like every system I got except dreamcast and Gameboy advance which I got the day they came out. Actually my friends told me it was the worst system but I bought anyway. I bought Cresent galaxy, the skiing game and syndicate and was very impressed I soon bought games a videogame liquidator for 5 bucks each now there triple that at the same place. I've played about 15 games and only 3 of them suck. Club Drive, Checkered Flag and white men can't jump. It's a weird system because most of the games fall between 6-8 out of 10. Nothing great just a bunch of solid games.

I loved the Jaguar when I first got it and was extremely impressed by it and so were all my friends, BUT, I couldn't afford it until January of '95, right after Christmas, and by that time a lot of the big hits were already out. My first impressions of the system included everything I bought right when I ordered the system via mail order. I spent $500 bucks. This included Cybermorph, Iron Soldier, ALienvsPredator, Tempest 2000, Checkered flag, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D and Trevor Mcfur in the Cresent galaxy. Some of those I bought used at a local game store while I was still waiting for the system to arrive. Oh, I also got Raiden within weeks as part of a UPC promotional Atari was doing at the time. Everyone but me hated Checkered flag, i liked it because I was able to control it through practice. All the other games were top hits with everone including Trevor Mcfur, which looked a hell of a lot better than Donkey Kong country that was out on the Snes at the same time...I had the best system on campus at my small college and everyone new it. That's just my experience though, people started getting Saturns and Playstation's the next semester and my reign as Vid King soon ended in averageness. Also, the favorite games with the general public were Trevor Mcfur and Tempest 2000 (when I had room parties and such). The favorites with me and my close friends were AvP, Doom and Iron Soldier. I guess I was just lucky after that in picking the right games like Super Burnout and Skiing&Snowboarding and other top Jag games, The only time I had a bad experience was when me and a buddy rented Club Drive and Kasumi Ninja, we weren't very impressed with hose games, but I figured at the time that every system was bound to have some duds. In recent years as I've been collecting for it, i've come across a few games that I don't like, but over all I like well over 75% of them a lot and they still get played to this day. I bought a 3DO about a year later after Atari went under, or at least the Jag was discontinued, to get some of the games on the 3DO that were supposed to come out for the Jag. I have since collected quite a bit for the 3DO too, and I have far more good games in my Jag library (I have all the best 3DO titles). I've never been disappointed I got a Jag, I've got top notch memories and experiences from it. I always felt it was the best unknown(to the general public) system out there, and that it got a terrible rap from biased game critics who loudly proclaimed it's faults and poor games, while quitely sweeping the high points and good games under the rug in favor of deep pocketed competators.
