Ze_ro
Okay, I know such a thing does not exist... but has anyone ever considered making one? It would sure make games like Baldies, Theme Park, Syndicate, and Cannon Fodder a hell of a lot easier... I know a mouse is quite different from a joystick, but I'm imagining something similar to the Atari 2600 trackball... where you can have it "emulate" a joystick (The Commodore 64's mouse can do this too). I'd imagine any other way would require re-programming the games themselves to work on analog. So, anyone know where to start? --Zero
Tyrant
I dont remember the address, but I know I've seen someone who has made a mouse for it, its very simple, it works the same way as a tempest spinner, but without the hard work of building the hardware, its just a small adapter cable. However it would obviously only work with programs built for analog input. Theoretically it would be possible to build an advanced joystick or mouse that can do analog on digital-only games, but its top speed would obviously be only the normal speed of a digital pad. +Mitch
You could probably wire up a Commodore 1350 mouse to work. It is a "joystick emulation" mode mouse and works great on 2600 games instead of a joystick. It only has two buttons though. Gunstar
The only game to have analog control (except for T2K's) is Battlesphere, it has a secret code to activate it. So a mouse could only work with it and maybe T2K. Plus, you better find a copy of Battlesphere before you start worrying about a mouse for it... I have an Atari trackball that has a joystick emulation mode, something like that could be hacked together with a Jag controller which might control better than the pad, but it wouldn't be any faster, maybe just more comfortable. You'd definitely need a Y-cable at the very least... unless you were able to find/make a 17 button mouse Perhaps if someone was to make a Y-cable that had a 9-pin port on one side, and the Jaguar 15-pin port on the other side... this would make it possible to not only use a nice 1351 mouse, but also the 2600 track ball, and even Atari style joysticks. This is good. It shouldn't even be too hard either... the only problem would be that you would need a mouse that can properly emulate a joystick. --Zero
